Electronic devices contain materials that can be recovered, but improper disposal can also release hazardous substances.

Responsible recycling helps protect both natural resources and the environment.

Today's #RamsarSpotlight takes us to Udaipur Jheel in Bihar.

Udaipur Jheel is an oxbow lake formed in the floodplains of the River Gandak.

Located within Udaipur Wildlife Sanctuary, it is an important aquatic ecosystem that also supports local communities through water, food and livelihood resources.

Today's #RamsarSpotlight takes us to Chhari-Dhand in Gujarat.

Its very name captures the landscape. In Kutchi, ‘Chhari’ means salty and ‘Dhand’ means shallow wetland.

On the edge of the Rann of Kutch, even the name tells a story of the land.

Today's #RamsarSpotlight takes us to Nakti Bird Sanctuary in Bihar.

Created through the construction of Nakti Dam, the wetland has become part of the shared cultural landscape of seven surrounding villages.

What began as a waterbody has become a part of community life.

Today's #RamsarSpotlight takes us to Nagi Bird Sanctuary in Bihar.

A Durga temple within the wetland hosts a fair during Nawami Puja, bringing villagers together alongside a landscape that welcomes resident and migratory birds.

A place where faith, community and nature share the same space.

HMEFCC Shri @byadavbjp engaged with startups and innovators to explore technology-driven solutions to Delhi-NCR’s air pollution challenges.

He placed before them a problem statement covering key sources of pollution and encouraged the development of innovative, affordable and scalable technologies to address them.

This proactive initiative seeks to bring together government, industry and innovators to strengthen collective action against air pollution, guided by the principle:

“Saaf Hawa Mein Hissedaari, Hum Sabhi Ki Hai Zimmedaari.”

🌿 A Big Milestone for India’s Biodiversity! 🇮🇳✨

India’s #Ramsar Site tally has just leveled up! Two new wetlands have officially joined the international list, taking our nation's total to 1️⃣0️⃣3️⃣ Ramsar Sites.

◉ Sukhna Wetland, Chandigarh

A pit stop for resident birds and long-distance migrants, #Sukhna Wetland offers feeding, breeding and resting habitats for birds along the Central Asian Flyway.

◉ Sauj Jheel, Uttar Pradesh

From sacred lotus to diverse wildlife, Sauj Jheel is a thriving wetland in the Ganga floodplain that supports more than 30,000 waterbirds.

Union Environment Minister interacts with Startups to explore Affordable, Scalable, Tech-driven Solutions for #AirPollution in Delhi-NCR

Proactive Initiative to Bridge Gap between Policymakers & Tech Innovators to tackle Air Pollution: Sh @byadavbjp

Had a very engaging and meaningful interaction with StartUps and innovation companies working on environmental solutions, especially air pollution control and mitigation.

The companies presented their solutions to air pollution control challenges and we deliberated on ways to engage further on the proposed solutions.

The areas covered by the companies include:

🌱 Industrial emissions monitoring and enforcement: Develop tamper-proof OCEMS and AI detection of data drift/manipulation; monitor APCDs, detect bypass or malfunction, and link APCD operation with furnace/boiler controls. Integrate CAQMS, OCEMS and plant-operation data to flag potential violations.

🌱 Dust control at construction sites and roads: Use of AI cameras to detect C&D-site dust and activate suppression equipment; develop movable dust-containment and filtration systems. Promote low-cost mechanised road sweepers and tools to identify road-dust resuspension hotspots.

🌱 City-wide air-quality mapping and source attribution: Map air quality in near real time, including unmonitored areas; locate hotspots and estimate contributions from vehicles, road dust, construction, industries and biomass burning using monitoring, satellite and meteorological data.

🌱 Cleaner vehicles and smoother traffic: Develop tamper-proof PUC testing that verifies genuine exhaust sampling; use ANPR and linked databases to identify vehicles without valid PUCCs and over-aged vehicles. Apply AI to predict congestion and improve traffic flow, reducing idling and emissions.

🌱 Stubble/open-burning detection and utilisation: Enable 24×7 detection and geolocation of paddy-stubble and other open biomass-burning incidents, with alerts and response tracking. Optimise straw collection, transport and matching with bioenergy, biomass-fuel, composting and other utilisation facilities.

🌱 Cleaner industrial operations and DG sets: Provide affordable systems to monitor combustion efficiency and fuel use in small industries. Improve DG-set emissions control through smart RECDs that detect choking, malfunction, bypass, removal or tampering.

🌱 Recycling construction and demolition waste: Create digital platforms to certify, match and track recycled C&D products against construction-sector demand, improving transparency and utilisation.

🌱 Faster, efficient road maintenance: Developing portable, cost-effective pothole-repair machines for rapid, durable repairs with less manpower and reduced traffic disruption.

Today's #RamsarSpotlight takes us to Kopra Jalashay in Chhattisgarh.

Just around 30 km away lies historic Ratanpur, where the Kalachuri dynasty built nearly 360 ponds between the 12th and 14th centuries - earning it the title ‘City of Ponds’.

In the ‘state of ponds’, water is also part of the region’s cultural heritage.

India’s Ramsar site tally reaches 103 🇮🇳🌿

India continues to strengthen its commitment to wetland conservation, with Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh and Sauj Jheel in Uttar Pradesh becoming the latest additions to the list of Ramsar Sites.

This milestone highlights the importance PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s government has been laying on wetlands in conserving biodiversity, enhancing water and climate security, and sustaining local livelihoods.

These additions reaffirm India’s ongoing efforts to conserve its rich wetland ecosystems and strengthen the ecological, climatic and livelihood benefits they provide. 🌏💧

I congratulate Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh for this feat.

Dear travellers, do visit Sukhna and Sauj next time you have a couple days at hand.
