My good Brahmin friend @adityajakki and I had an interesting conversation today over a cup of coffee. I was surprised by his brutal frankness and appreciate his honest admission of a few bitter facts.
He said:
"Almost 90% of private-sector Indian CEOs, promoters, and top businessmen come from our Brahmin and Bania communities. We silently ensure that no one else flourishes. Our networks across banks, VCs, markets, society, and now even politics guarantee a multi-generational reserved monopoly. This has been the case for generations, not merely for the past 75 years.
I know this because I have seen it at close quarters, being one of them and living among them. And frankly, you know it too.
Yes, we are talented. We had every means to become: safe childhoods, unlimited nutrition at will, the best education and parenting, the finest imaginable schooling and healthcare, and never any degrading social treatment - for generations. Just imagine what merit and talent would look like without all that.
As for merit, something we hear cries about 24×7, the Indian private sector (which has had zero reservations since eternity) in the past 30 years of the neoliberal economy has not created a single genuine world-beating product. No Google, no SpaceX, no WhatsApp, no Mercedes, nothing.
I think real change will begin the day our Brahmins and other Savarnas rise and demand the destruction of the caste system which makes reservations an absolute necessity. They almost certainly never will, because the hardened and ossified caste system keeps us in a position of continuing privilege, which we deny, then constantly display as victimhood, and then blame the unfortunates who have been victimised for centuries and finally turn violent if the situation permits.
We are terrified that one day the caste system will actually end and all will be equal. We are mortified at the very idea, because that is how it has always been."
@Daniel_Rubino For a lot of Linux users, Linux is also about moving away from big tech, which, put simply, is responsible for the destruction of our planet.
Moving to Linux is part of the revolution to save the earth by moving to alternatives that aren't enabling big tech or corpos.
There is a KDE dev who actually does work like this because he literally cannot see his work otherwise, he also uses a massive 4k screen.
He's currently employed to work on the KDE accessibility stack.
Arrived in India after spending some time in China (multiple cities/towns and villages)
While at Twitter there’s so much being spoken about UPI, data cost compared to the west, I would urge the aspiration to look at China.
In China:
• Tier-3 cities feel planned
• Villages have roads, logistics, connectivity
• Execution looks boring- and that’s the point
India debates apps and terminals.
China invested in continuity.
Streets have lanes for pedestrians, bikes, cars, buses, by design.
Cars being sold in the same store as phones and tablets - think of access.
That’s the ambition worth studying.
Railway stations are built bigger than airports, because that’s where scale lives.
I urge a visit to China, you will come back asking why these two similar population behaves differently and that will do way better in the long run
The reason why India lacks civic sense is due to caste system entitled people think that it is the Job of someone to clean while they throw trash RT & share
Greta Thunberg: “Israeli soldiers hit, kicked, starved, and tortured me”
• They placed a flag next to me, and anytime the flag touched me, they kicked me
• Whenever I raised my head to look at Ben-Gvir, I was kicked
• She was filmed while stripped naked
• Prison was 40 degrees but no water was given to Greta and her friends for days
• People fell sick. Guards mocked them saying they would gas them, showing them cylinders
• She was kept in solitary confinement for hours with bugs

I feel embarrassed to say this as a lawyer with 12 years of practice, I do not have faith in the legal "justice" system of my country.
A client came to me 5 years ago, facing a completely false molestation case after a breakup in Mumbai.
We filed civil and criminal cases against the girl and her family.
After stopping communication for 2 years, the client comes to me again asking for specific advice on a few applications, and after guiding him, I asked if he discussed mediation and mutual withdrawal of cases with the girl.
Nope.
He said he wanted justice.
I then spent an hour trying to convince him that he, a tech engineer in the USA, is just wrestling with a pig in the mud.
You are now at a level playing field, with the girl and her entire family scrambling to defend the cases you have filed against them. Get them in the mediation room, broker a settlement, move on with your life.
He did not listen.
He said he wants justice.
Sadly, India is not a country for justice.
5, or 10, or 20 years down the line, he will realise this.
It is not a game you want to win, but one you want to get out of as soon as possible.
I will never, ever use Zoho. It’s a government trap to spy on everyone.
If Arnab, Sudhir, Chitra, Devgan, Rubika, or Anjana oppose someone, it means that person is on the right side.
If anyone praises these jokers, it means that person is either mentally retarded or working against the country.
This news is from 3 days back. No mass media repoted it. No opposition leader raised it.
In at least 12 orders, judges found police had introduced 'artificial' witnesses or apparently 'fabricated' evidence. In two other cases, witnesses testified that police officials had dictated their statements.
Umar Khalid and others will also be acquitted but for that we will have for 10-15 more years.
Imagine your starting salary at 23 years of age is ₹10 lakh. Thereafter, it increases by a handsome 20% every year for the next 5 years. In these 5 years you would've earned ₹ 74,41,600.
On the other hand, your friend tried UPSC 5-6 times and became an officer at the age of 29-30 years. In the next 2-3 years, he would've earned a salary income of 2-3 lakhs and additional income of ₹1-2 crore.
And then people wonder why some 'waste' 7-8 years of their life in wanting to crack a government job exam.
The ROI for this loss of years is phenomenal.
Dear @nitin_gadkari Ji, You said there’s a petrol lobby campaigning against your family & Ethanol Blending Program. But is this what you meant?
Shameful that taxpayers’ money is being wasted on social media promos while the same taxpayers suffer because of it. Heights of misleading people by the Govt.
What is the need to promote this blended fuel if it’s really so good for vehicles? Promotions are only needed when you know the public is discovering the truth & bad effects of Ethanol Blended Fuel. What do you say @MOPNG @BPCLimited?
Let’s make one thing clear from the start: Charlie Kirk was the victim of a shooting in a country where he, along with other right-wing extremist influencers, have been inciting violence for years. — Kirk is neither a martyr nor a hero, he is a cause.
We’re told that buying cheap Russian oil was a masterstroke for India's national interest.
But a stunning claim has emerged from US Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent:
Indians never saw cheaper fuel, while a few rich families allegedly profited $16 billion by reselling it.
Is this true...?

My patient with alcohol-related liver disease was brought into the emergency in a confused state. Within 24 hours, he crashed in front of the ICU staff, went into a coma, and had to be put on a ventilator.
This is what his brain looked like. A fungus was eating large parts of his right brain. The same fungus was in his blood and lungs too. A little demon called Aspergillus. My patient has non-stop seizures on the ventilator. He is deeply sedated. We are aggressive, but his chances of surviving this fungus assault is slim.
People always equate alcohol use with liver disease. But if you ask me, I am least bothered the liver. Because what alcohol does to your immune system is far more terrifying.
1️⃣Alcohol weakens your body’s defences. Even one moderate drinking session can slow how white blood cells find and kill germs.
2️⃣In the lungs, alcohol harms the “clean-up” cells and blunts the alarms that call in help. With these first-line defences down, bacteria and viruses get a head start.
3️⃣Heavy drinkers get pneumonia more often and recover more slowly. They’re also more likely to develop dangerous lung failure (ARDS) during severe illness.
4️⃣Alcohol use raises the risk of serious brain infections like bacterial meningitis and fungal abscesses. When meningitis occurs in drinkers, outcomes are usually worse.
5️⃣Drinking increases the chance of blood infections. In the ICU, people with alcohol dependence have more complications and higher death rates.
6️⃣Alcohol slows wound healing and increases wound and surgical-site infections. Even around two or more drinks a day is linked to more postoperative infections.
7️⃣Alcohol makes the gut “leaky” and disrupts healthy gut bacteria. Germ fragments and toxins then enter the bloodstream, driving inflammation and setting up infections in other organs.
8️⃣Alcohol weakens the immune system’s ability to make strong antibodies. Responses to vaccines and some viral infections are often poorer, especially with heavy use.
There is no safe level of alcohol that benefits health.
There is nothing known as "responsible drinking". If you are drinking, you are irresponsible. Period.
I’ve reported 18 wars over 35 years. I’ve been shot at, kidnapped, threatened, nearly raped. I’ve lost friends from Sarajevo to Syria. I thought I’d seen the worst of humanity. I was wrong. Nothing compares to Gaza — or the complicity letting it happen.
