Hon. John Baptist said apart from the natural resources, the region also has other amenities to attract tourism. He said with the industrial dev'ts now in place, the region is poised for greater heights. @GovUganda@ChineseEmb_Uga@KagutaMuseveni
While giving his remarks, Hon. Lokii J.Bosco and the vice CEC said now the region has something to offer the country and beyond. He said the region is well endowed with natural resources, calling for more interested investors.
It was started in September 2023 and now is launching. Karamoja's industrial journey is testament that the region is shifting towards social economic development. In total, #Moroto now hosts 3 factories. @StateHouseUg@ugandainvest
The onboarding meeting for AIDI and . The purpose was to enhance the capacity of the two local sub partners to effectively deliver the WAVA project in Amudat and Nakapiripirit districts. Organised by FOWODE
Currently @Lira_RRH is being overwhelmed by patients from across Lango, Teso, Acholi and West Nile seeking for Dialysis yet it operates with only 5 machines that have to serve over 10 patients daily. They also have a big staffing gap. These facilities are doing a great job πππ
He however concurred with the Auditors over the high cost of treatment for kidney disease explaining on the open market, people pay UGX400,000 to UGX500,000 per session and you need three sessions, that is UGX1.2 Million per week, that is UGX4.8Million in a month. And that is only for dialysis, you need other medications as well. So, for you to keep alive, maybe you need about UGX5 Million or so. So that is how expensive kidney disease is.
βDialysis is very expensive, extremely expensive. It is not sustainable for any one of us. If any of us got sick, you will sell all your land to be able to maintain this. It is a very expensive venture that we have gone into. In Kiruddu Hospital, instead of the UGX400,000 that has been costed here, Government has subsidised this and given us the doctors, it has the buildings, it pays for the water, so we charge UGX60,000 out of the UGX400,000 that the open market charges. But even the UGX60,000 that we are telling them to pay, because it's a repeated expenditure, very few people can afford it,β Dr. Kabugo explained.

I have a patient in Lira Regional referral hospital undergoing #Dialysis treatment. It's indeed costly. Last December, one parent from Serere decided to take back a daughter who had been there for months due to lack of resources. @kirudduNRH is doing a great job and needs support

Santa Lorot, told the delegation that they have achieved a lot through advocacy, and community sensitisation. She told them that through their advocacy for women involvement in politics, they managed to achieve 05 slots, one lc1, representative of pwds and the rest councilors.
The only reason you are more than a brand name in the region. You don't only treat but try to sensitize the community. Trust me, that person will eventually try to at least limit alcohol intake. Otherwise, lemme send you another client π€£π€£π€£
The issue of alcohol is such a big thing in Karamoja. I have decided to give up for my own peace because if I continued to be strict, I would have ended up excluding almost all the patients from my theater list. Same thing with sniffing tobacco.
I have given up
You come smelling alcohol, I still work on you. You disappear from my theatre queue to go take a sip, I wait for you. What counts now is that youβve come.
One time I had this conversation with a postoperative patient:
Him: Dr, can I continue taking alcohol now that the surgery is done?
Me: No
Him: Even a little? (He said this while demonstrating the size with his fingures)
Me: No
He left. Then a few seconds, he came back again
Him: Even a cold one?
Me: No
He left again and came back
Him: Doctor, even a warm one?
Me: πππππJust go and drink, but make sure you carry your eye drop with you always, and make sure you donβt fall on the operated eye
Hey sighted frequent meetings and one of the best balance and checks initiative known as the Parliament as the major drivers of the best quality services in this facility. You can visit and prove for yourself. Otherwise, too iconic and an example to the rest @MinofHealthUG
Listening from the sidelines, the board of #LiraRegRefHosp is accounting for their time in office so far, to the facility staffs. They oversaw the establishment of a private wing that is doing tremendously well, improved security and above all, maintaining professionalism....T
After receiving a delegation from @embassy_korea on Tuesday, #LiraRegRefHosp is holding end of year board meeting and staff party. With the teams here working tirelessly to serve the big numbers, a day like this is good to reflect on strengths, hits and misses. @JaneRuth_Aceng

They deserve their flowers πππ. Several patients I talked to prefer to spend more money on transport to receive the good services, especially doctors/nurses calmness. One from Kumi told me he got almost well on arrival due to the hospitality
It was such an experience! Never mind, next year it will even be bigger. To support the #GirlChild in #Karamoja, let us join this course @karatungatours@wekesa_amos@PepsiUganda
Check a little of what it is... And this was the beginning, more epic sceneries yet to come
