@yuya2welve@SpaceMiner321@HMKilla@lazyjusten Your argument of input delay, again for the billionth time, is a moot point for ult. It is only valid when the example is extreme. It is NOT extreme for ult. Based on your logic, every game is unresponsive because every game has input delay.
@yuya2welve@SpaceMiner321@HMKilla@lazyjusten It is indeed a fault of the game because humans are not machines. They are not 100% accurate all the time. When I hit a button and it doesn’t come out, that is unresponsive just flat out. It’s why modern games feel more fluid because there are more frames to allow inputs
@yuya2welve@SpaceMiner321@HMKilla@lazyjusten Saying “I don’t know when to press” again can be applied to your example for Ultimate. It’s just another way of saying “skill issue” which is just dancing around the issue at hand. Just accept Melee is old and clunky
@yuya2welve@SpaceMiner321@HMKilla@lazyjusten Our point is Melee feels clunky because your inputs need to be nearly frame perfect in most cases. The lack of a buffer means “I hit f-tilt, why didn’t it come out” happens more
@yuya2welve@SpaceMiner321@HMKilla@lazyjusten Bro you said feels more clunky which is legit another way of saying unresponsive. Input delay does not mean anything in terms of unresponsive unless the example is egregious
@SpaceMiner321@yuya2welve@HMKilla@lazyjusten Even then, on average, Smash 4 has roughly 1 frame less delay. Unless your top level, it’s not really noticeable. Which keeps going back to my point that Ultimate is nowhere close to unresponsive and a bad example of the case
@yuya2welve@HMKilla@lazyjusten A game being unresponsive absolutely can be objective. Inputs not translating over properly being one example. Your argument of input delay isn’t far off, but Smash isn’t a good example unless it’s online play specifically
@yuya2welve@HMKilla@lazyjusten I mean you’re not really adding anything additional. I already stated it has the most input delay, but that doesn’t classify unresponsive. You’re ignoring what I’m saying willingly
@yuya2welve@HMKilla@lazyjusten Additionally, he was stating that as an objective point of criticism for a game, not that it makes a game bad automatically.
@yuya2welve@HMKilla@lazyjusten It does have the most delay, but delay (unless egregious) does not mean “unresponsive.” For example, DBFZ plays beautifully and still has roughly 5 frames of input delay caked in. It depends on the overall systems implemented in the game.
@yuya2welve@HMKilla@lazyjusten “You haven’t mastered the timings yet” isn’t a valid argument because the same thing can be applied to Ultimate. I don’t think either game is necessarily unresponsive and therefore are not good examples of what HMK is saying, but Melee would be CLOSER due to how strict it is
@yuya2welve@HMKilla@lazyjusten Just because a game has input delay doesn’t mean it’s “the most unresponsive.” Like yeah, the input delay sucks, but even like Melee can feel clunky because it doesn’t buffer inputs well, so sometimes stuff just doesn’t come out because it was a frame off.
