@BayleafButtons @feltiscreations @Etsy the most #illegal part of the whole #Etsy fiasco is that sellers are told to then claim shipping is free when it is still being paid for by the customer. I have submitted a formal complaint to Competition Board against Etsy, my own business platform. :( 2/2

I’m not surprised to learn that the free shipping (but not actually free) @Etsy model may also be illegal in USA. It’s definitely illegal in Canada, Mexico, EU and (it looks like) UK. #Etsysellers don’t own carriers or make enough profit to pay it out of pocket! #EtsyIsNotAmazon

70% of my business is from the USA! So no it doesn’t “help”. @etsy Hiding fees in item cost is illegal in Canada, EU, Mexico, etc. These countries have these laws because of ethical considerations. This should matter a lot!! Stop telling me how to do business #EtsyisnotAmazon

This doesn’t help at all! #EtsyIsNotAmazon This crazy, illegal in many countries, pricing scam of hiding shipping costs & saying it’s ‘free’ needs to STOP! I have to comply with Canadian law; but @Etsy punishes my shop b/c of it. Outrageous!

Hi Brittany - it does not help as 70% of my customers are from the USA.
If @Etsy wants to help they need to stop this unethical pricing scheme. Treat buyers & sellers with respect; no one believes shipping is ‘free’; especially for shops run by individuals! #etsyisnotamazon

Thanks. It’s a very disappointing response from @Etsy. Essentially if I follow the law in Canada they will punish me in search rankings. Obviously not complying with the law is not an option & I don’t know any shipping companies that are free. Rock, hard place. #EtsyIsNotAmazon
