Trans activists and the family of Sexy Fredericks gathered at the High Court today for pre-trial of Sexy’s brutal murder, following the passage of the anti-LGBTQI+ bill which sparked a wave of hate crimes in 2024. @parliament_na must pass the Ombudsman’s hate crimes/speech bill.

Today the courts heard for the first time in Namibia, a case involving the brutal hate crime of a trans woman, Sexy Frederick’s. The judge ordered the suspects accused to stay in custody at the Windhoek Correctional Facility, case adjourned 18 Feb 2026…
It highlights that this hate crimes, particularly towards trans persons, must be treated with the seriousness. It reminds us that LGBTQIA+ issues are real-time, real-world, and real fundamental human rights issues...
Following the passage of the anti-LGBTQI+ bills by @parliament_nam, more than 7 hate crimes were reported in 2024.
Tomorrow the suspects accused of murder in Sexy Frederick’s hate crime case will make their first court appearance. We stand with her family in pursuit of justice.
