UEA services are hugely beneficial to inner-city children, faith groups and specific communities such as BAME. They have a number of different services and activities which are all aimed at changing the perception of riding being an elitist activity

Reece McCook launched the “Ride out Racism” campaign after experiencing racial discrimination while on a working pupil placement. His aim is to lower the barriers in equestrian and make the sport more accessible and diverse.

Khadijah Mellah became the first British Muslim woman to ride in a horse race and the first jockey to compete wearing a hijab. She said, “There is a stereotype that Muslim women can’t go out there and do certain things, hopefully this will show my religion in a positive light.”

Cheryl White became the first black female jockey to win 5 thoroughbred races in one day on a major track. In her 21 years of racing she won 750 races and in 1990 she was presented with an Award of Merit by the African-American Sports Hall of Fame.
