So we had our first Webinar today on Theory of Cross Country. We were joined by Gunners, RAMC, AGC(SPS) and AAC riders amongst others! It was gratifying to see all ranks, Regulars & Reservists joining in. @25CSEngrGp@Proud_Sappers@ArmySportASCB@26EngineerRegt @Commander8X
Sapper Equine Association is taking advantage of the Eventing experience of Spr Alex Simpson, serving in @26EngineerRegt@25CSEngrGp. Heβll give a Webinar on βTheory of Cross Countryβ about different XC jumps, how a course designer might use them and how to ride them.
2/4 At 18 he went to work for Australian international event rider Paul Tapner as a working pupil. After two years he returned to Ireland with his advanced horse and continued competing within Eventing Ireland, securing a spot in the Irish Young Rider squad.
1/4 Spr Alex Simpson (currently serving at 26 ER in Perham Down) grew up riding in the Meath hunt pony club in Co. Meath, Ireland. He started riding in Eventing Ireland competitions at age 14 on a homebred Connemara/Thoroughbred cross and on successive homebred sport horses.
Deployments and Trade Courses (as well as COVID-19) have created a short pause to Alexβs military riding, but hopefully heβll be in contention to get on the Army Squad soon!

3/4 In his last season in Ireland he competed in 3 successive FEI CIC3* events, each time more successful, until an injury to his horse cut the season short. On joining the army he competed for a season on a horse he had brought over from Ireland.
