There are structural problems and there are individual problems. If you think Balde didn’t play well, I’d suggest you’re conflating the former with the latter.

Balde’s primarily role was to hold his width, overlap, and support Rashford. And he did that brilliantly. A constant threat on the left, and one of the man reasons (with Lamine) that we consistently destabilised Brugge’s block.

Is he going to get caught out defensively? Well, obviously!!! The lad is basically our left-winger. We’re asking him to attack, and hold width, and make runs, then turn around and run the length of the pitch. It’s ridiculously demanding.
