Bet someone out there can shed some light on this.

A family member transferred a large amt of money related to a house payment from his regular bank to Fidelity where it needed to be wired the following week.
The money left his checking account the day he made the transfer (meaning it wasn't available for him to use).
But weeks went by and Fidelity wouldn't clear it to be used.
When he finally called Fidelity, they said that due to a general pattern of increase in fraud (not related to him), it was holding onto transfers longer before releasing them, but they couldn't give a time frame (a month? a year?).
In the end, the money was cleared after six weeks.
The man was prevented from accessing his own money for any reason for six weeks, without advance notice given.

I see numerous problems with this:

1. The Fidelity website still said transfers were typically cleared in 1-3 days. There was no warning to people that they wouldn't be able to get their money for an undetermined amount of time, let alone many weeks.

2. The money was *somewhere* for those weeks: it just wasn't available for the customer who owned it. Someone was collecting interest on it. Multiply this by how many people they're doing that to...

3. Something stinks: This customer had been with Fidelity for many years with no fraud involved in his accounts. In today's electronic age, if there was real concern, Fidelity could confirm in an instant with the bank that the money was good.

I advised him to try to take it up with someone in a position of authority but he just kept getting the same answer: "due to general increase in fraud, this is what we're doing...". When he insisted on filing a complaint about the lack of notice and the credibility gap in general, they told him to write a snail mail letter to some corporate address, and he sent me a copy. It was a good letter, but nobody ever bothered to reply.

I, too, have noticed similarly oddly long (and I think unjustifiable) delays.

Another family member transferred cash from her checking account to fund her Shopify account and, again, the money was gone from her checking in that moment (not available to her).

But it was listed as "pending" on Shopify for a week, which seems like too long.

What do you think is going on? Incompetence or something by design?

Companies (including banks) depend on the "float", money that is intransit between institutions if they are in financial troubles.
Some companies and banks depend on the float of a least 1-2 days (longer on weekends) It use to be called 'KITING' if a company/person does it, its criminal.

Whenever you see a DMV setup that states: "I am eligible to vote in U.S. elections" and then has a singular check box, that is fraud.

If you are not eligible to vote in U.S. elections, there is no box to say no. So, the positive affirmation is to check the box, the negative response is to leave it blank.

Understand?

Then, all blank flagged DMV registrations (the empty box) can be directed to the Sec of State registrar under the guise of 'benefit of doubt.'

That's what they do.

"I am eligible to vote in U.S. elections" with a YES or NO box option are legit. "I am eligible to vote in U.S. elections" with only a YES box are fraud.

Eric Holder first set that up in California in 2017/2018. That's where the test of the system took place. Xavier Becerra was California AG at the time.

I'm going to say this again, real simple. And I will keep saying it until enough people realize what it means.

Why Doesn’t the FBI and DHS stop this violent, organized, national activity?

Don’t make it complicated. Just look at things as they are, as they present themselves to be, and ask the most obvious questions.

“Domestic Tranquility?” Why are violence and chaos permitted?

How can a group within America openly threaten police, use violence against police, throw Molotov cocktails, bricks and explosive fireworks at police. Use batons, shields, bats and physical violence against police and federal law enforcement; destroy vehicles, set cars on fire, destroy property, trash and block the streets and create chaos, completely without consequence?

It doesn’t matter where it is happening, that’s irrelevant. Think plainly and simply.

How does any individual or group get to do this without being arrested?

It doesn’t make sense, unless….
…. Unless…. The group conducting the violence cannot be arrested.

Day after day; night after night, in most major metropolitan areas around the nation, the group known as “Antifa” operate with impunity.  They are organized; they are funded; they communicate locally, regionally and nationally.  They mobilize in designated and coordinated areas of operation, and they are exceptionally violent and dangerous.

So how is it they can operate?

They build encampments outside federal facilities and openly fight with federal officials and law enforcement.  Yet, nothing is done.  Why not?

If the FBI did not support Antifa, quite simply Antifa would not exist.  They are right there, highly visible, doing illegal things on camera, repeatedly, all over the country, and the FBI doesn’t lift a finger to stop them.  Why?

The only thing that makes sense is that the FBI wants this activity to take place.

If they did not want it to take place, they would stop it and arrest the lawbreakers who are attacking federal buildings and officers. 

The visuals of trashed streets, barricades, smoke bombs, riots, semi-frequent baton clashes in the streets, etc. etc. must serve some purpose for the FBI and DHS or they would stop it.

This is not misdemeanor behavior.

Arrest the participants and put them into federal prisons. This is not complicated.

The FBI and DHS support Antifa.  If they did not support them, the FBI and DHS would stop them.

Remember this.

Frank Fratellenico was a kid from Albany, New York, called Rocko by everyone who knew him. He joined the Army in 1969, and by the summer of 1970 he was a 19 year old corporal with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry, in the 101st Airborne Division, fighting in Quang Tri Province, the northern ground this whole series keeps returning to.

On August 19, 1970, his squad got pinned down flat by heavy fire coming from two well built enemy bunkers. Nobody could move. So Rocko Fratellenico decided to move. He crawled forward alone, out ahead of his squad and into the fire, worked his way up to the first bunker, and knocked it out with hand grenades, taking out the enemy soldiers inside it.

Then he went after the second bunker. As he closed on it, enemy fire hit him, and he fell. In his hand was a grenade he had already armed and was about to throw, and when he went down, it dropped to the ground beside him, live, its fuse burning, right next to four of his fellow soldiers.

Fratellenico had maybe a second, wounded and on the ground, to understand what was happening. He used it to reach out, pull the grenade in, and throw his own body over it. It exploded underneath him. His body absorbed the blast. The four men next to him lived, unhurt, because a 19 year old who was already wounded chose in his last instant to cover a grenade rather than roll away from it. Fired up by what they had just seen him do, his unit surged forward and overran the enemy position.

Rocko Fratellenico was awarded the Medal of Honor for those final seconds, given to his family in his name. He never turned 20. It is one of the most common and most staggering kinds of Medal of Honor story from this war, a young man throwing himself on a grenade to buy life for the men beside him, and it happened on this day, August 19, in the hills of Quang Tri.
