NINE PEOPLES, ONE HEARTBEAT
By Abraham Gebremichael
From the series: Eritrea - The Red Seaโs Unsilenced Nation
There are lands made of mountains,
lands made of rivers,
lands made of sand and windโฆ
But Eritrea is a land made of people.
Nine peoples.
Nine languages.
Nine histories.
Nine ways of praying, singing, dreaming.
And yet
when the wind moves across the highlands,
when the Red Sea breathes against Massawaโs coral walls,
when the drumbeat rises in a village at dusk,
you hear not nine rhythmsโฆ
but one heartbeat.
The Afar carry the wind.
The Saho carry the valleys.
The Tigrinya carry the highlands.
The Kunama carry the wide, old earth.
The Rashaida carry the desertโs fire.
The Bilen carry the plains.
The Nara carry the forests.
The Hidareb carry the horizon.
The Tigre carry the shores where memory meets the sea.
Different footsteps.
One road.
Different voices.
One song.
Different origins.
One destiny.
For unity in Eritrea was not built by treaties or borders.
It was built by hands
hands that shared water in the drought,
hands that lifted stones during struggle,
hands that buried the martyrs and carried their dreams forward,
hands that promise:
โYour child is my child.
Your sorrow is my sorrow.
Your future is my responsibility.โ
Nine peoples. One heartbeat.
A unity not forced, but lived.
A harmony not written, but remembered.
A nation not assembled
but woven, like a basket passed down through generations.
Eritreaโs strength is not in its size,
nor in its armies,
nor in the harshness of its landscapes.
Its strength is in the quiet truth
that no empire ever understood:
A country protected by unity
cannot be conquered.
And so the nine peoples stand
on mountains, in deserts, by seas, in fields
not identical,
but inseparable.
This is Eritrea.
A land where diversity is not a challenge,
but a crown.
A land where difference is not a wound,
but a blessing.
A land where nine hearts beat
as if they were one.
And as long as that heartbeat continues,
Eritrea will remain
what history tried to silence
and what memory refuses to forget:
One people. One home. One future.
Glory to our martyrs.

๐จ Oromia Region security forces massacre Orthodox Christians sheltering inside St. Raphael Church in Shirka Woreda, Arsi Zone
Witness testimonies emerging from Shirka Woreda, Arsi Zone, Oromia Region, accuse Oromia Regional Security Forces known as Repelola of participating in the massacre of Ethiopian Orthodox Christians alongside armed extremists. According to accounts from the area, Repelola units allegedly opened fire from behind on local farmers attempting to defend their communities against the attacks.
Witnesses further accused Repelola forces, operating under the Oromia Region security structure, of carrying out mass executions of Orthodox Christians who had sought refuge inside St. Raphael Church. The testimonies described the attacks as coordinated operations involving both Repelola units and armed extremist groups.
โMany Orthodox Christians were killed after the force known as Repelola entered the area. We expected them to protect us, but instead they massacred us,โ one witness stated. The witness also expressed fears of further attacks, warning, โWe are extremely afraid that these forces will massacre us during the night. If we are attacked again, we want everyone to know that Repelola is responsible.โ
The latest testimonies follow reports that at least 47 Orthodox Christians were killed in attacks across Birbo, Chole and Sole Guna kebeles of Shirka Woreda, where residential homes were also burned and property looted. The Arsi Diocese has called for urgent intervention to protect civilians and end the continuing violence.
@RenaissanceDam@compishtato ๐ช๐น's ๐ซ No matter how many times Ethiopians argue about it on X, the facts remain: Ethiopia is a landlocked country. It does not own a coastline or seaport. Access to the sea must come through agreements with neighboring countries, including paying for port services. Period.
I am finding this guy very entertaining. He doesn't know the context of this documents and he is inadvertently announcing that Ethiopia was always landlocked never owned any ports and it was with the help of America that it managed to unlawfully federated Eritrea with Crown government of Hailesilase.
๐ช๐น Enough is enough! Too many innocent lives have been lost in Ethiopia. Families are being destroyed, children R suffering, and civilians are left unprotected. When a government fails to protect its people the international community must step in. We need peacekeepers, NOW! ๐๏ธ

๐ Fano Expands Territory. Amhara Fano forces have captured Girana in North Wollo and Kimir Dingay in South Gondar. As Fano maneuvers toward the Tigray border, the Ethiopian federal government is responding with heavy airstrikes and troop deployments along key routes.
๐ Somali Forces Control of Moyale. Somali regional forces arrived in Moyale with around 300 vehicles and launched an offensive against Oromia regional forces. Somali forces are now reported to control the town, while Oromia regional forces are bringing reinforcements from neighbouring towns. The fighting has taken on the scale of a conflict between two countries rather than two regions within one country. More than 10,000 people have crossed into Kenya displaced by the violence.
๐ 47 Orthodox Christians Tragically Massacred. Reports from Arsi Zone in Oromia show that 47 Orthodox Christians were killed in a single day and buried in a mass grave.
๐ US Warns Against Travel to Three Regions. The US Embassy in Addis Ababa has explicitly advised US citizens not to travel to Amhara, Tigray or Afar regions for any reason.
A lesson #Ethiopia still refuses to learn. From Mengistuโs war to today, the poor and dispossessed are mobilised to fight #Eritreaโa country many barely know, for a cause they neither chose nor benefit from. Sent to die or captured, then denied, unrecorded and forgotten. No names, no dignified burialsโjust nameless cannon fodder. A state that erases its own fallen has failed its people. How many generations must pay for Ethiopiaโs refusal to learn from history?

@EthConPuntland Abiy Ahmed, if you're claiming 130 million people will die without a port, so be it! That doesn't give you the right to steal another country's land. Many nations are landlocked without threatening their neighbors. Ethiopia is not entitled to anyone else's territory. Period!
If you're saying 130 million people will die without a port, then so be it. Whose land are you planning to take? Many countries are landlocked, yet they don't threaten their neighbors. Being landlocked w/130 million doesn't give Ethiopia the right to another nation's territory.
โFor a nation of more than 130 million people, access to the sea is existential. Imagine planning for generations ahead when every road to the world must pass through other countries. This concerns our security and our sovereignty...โ
โ PM Abiy Ahmed, at the Tana Forum
@FaqiAlis Thank you for speaking the truth! No economic ambition justifies war or violating another nationโs sovereignty. The Horn of Africa has suffered enough. Our people deserve peace, stability, and cooperation, not another devastating war.
@GaroweOnline Another joke! Ethiopiaโs intelligence chief lectures coastal nations about Red Sea security while his own country is engulfed in multiple conflicts, violence & insecurity. How can you claim to secure the Red Sea when you struggle to maintain โ๏ธ & security within your own borders?
If you're saying 130 million people will die unless Ethiopia gets someone else's territory, well, so be it. That doesn't give you the right to take another nation's land or violate its sovereignty.

What arrogance! Since when does having 130 million people entitle you to someone elseโs land? Being landlocked is no excuse for threatening another nationโs sovereignty. You cannot preach peace while treating your neighborsโ territory as your birthright.

What a cruel joke on the Ethiopian people? While families suffer through war, hunger, displacement and death, Abiy Ahmed is handing out gifts to African leaders in the name of peace. What exactly are they celebrating while Ethiopians are suffering? Where is the accountability?
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed presents a gift to African leaders on the sidelines of the 12th Tana High-Level Forum, honoring their commitment to African-led peace and continental unity.

More empty rhetoric from leaders who preach peace while their people suffer. ๐ช๐น faces conflict displacement, hunger and civilian deaths, yet its leaders lecture the world on peacebuilding How about addressing the suffering at home before delivering speeches on regional stability?
"International and regional organisations are vital to resolving conflicts in the #HornofAfrica. However, interventions cannot succeed without understanding the regionโs historical, political, socioeconomic realities and the wider context matters." -H.E. Getachew Reda, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia (on East Africa Affairs).
#HornOfAfrica #Peacebuilding
The height of hypocrisy! African leaders gather in Ethiopia to lecture the world about peace and sovereignty while their host nation is ravaged by war, hunger, displacement and drone strikes. What a disgrace! Africa needs accountability, not another parade of empty speeches.
Tana Forumโs high-level panel, โFrom the Margins to the Centre: Building an African Model for Peace and Sovereignty in an Age of Geopolitical Rivalry,โ brought together leaders from Burundi, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda and Sierra Leone to examine this question.
@AbiyAhmedAli To the mayor of Adiss Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia is bleeding. People are starving, civilians are dying in drone strikes, wars are tearing the nation apart, and churches are burning. Yet youโre parading around a stadium? Stop the PR circus. Your country needs peace, not photo ops.
๐จ ETHIOPIA: More than 150 Federal Police officers were killed in an overnight OLA attack on October 19โ20 at Fincha Sugar Factory and surrounding areas in Oromia. The deadliest OLA operation since joining the AFS Coalition highlights Ethiopiaโs escalating internal conflict.
ETHIOPIA โ ๐จ More than 150 Federal Police officers were reportedly killed in an overnight attack by the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) on October 19โ20, targeting regime forces stationed at ๐ ๐ข๐ง๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ซ ๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ and surrounding areas in Horo Guduru Wollega Zone, Oromia Region.
The reported death toll highlights the escalating intensity of the conflict in Oromia.
The attack is also being described as the most significant OLA operation since the group joined the AFS Coalition of rebel forces.
How can Ethiopia preach Red Sea security while drowning in internal conflicts and threatening its neighbors? Stop the hypocrisy and regional power games! Ethiopia is a landlocked country. Eritrea's sovereignty is non-negotiable, and the Red Sea is not yours to claim. Period!
Potemkin Party Officials (speech at 12th Tana Forum by Director of NSA) are invoking "increasing Red Sea militarization... and its consequences on maritime security" to argue for a "seat on the table for its stabilization".
The unhealthy obsession/irony is too palpable to merit elaboration.
This regime has been embroiled in, and has become the principal incubator, of the multiple and perennial internal conflicts that have gripped Ethiopia (Tigray, Amhara, Somali Regions etc.) for most of its relatively short incumbency.
It continues to host a military base in the Beni-Shangul Gumuz Region in western Ethiopia for UAE sponsored military training camp; main conduit for mercenaries; and for launching Drone attacks against the Sudan.
For more than three years now, it has declared an unprovoked war of aggression against Eritrea under the mantra of "sovereign access to the sea" and projection of "naval power" in the sovereign territorial waters of its neighbour.
Its destabilizing act against Somalia is another dimension of its delusional pursuit of "regional grandeur" and insatiable appetite for the status of a "surrogate mini-hegemon" under the beck and call of other regional hegemons.
This charade has to stop before it entails further regional chaos and turmoil!
Time to tell the aspirant "mini-hegemon" to shed these hollow pipedreams and grapple with its intractable domestic agendas. Time to openly pronounce - as the saying goes - that "the Emperor has no clothes".
