Potemkin Party's signature trademark has been aptly described by the formula: PP Propaganda = Lies + Deception + Delusion + Disinformation + "Dazzling" Optics.
Indeed, the article (Al Jazeera, 11 June 2026) by mercurial Getachew Reda (PP's Advisor for East African Affairs); and Redwan Hussein, (PP's Director General for National Intelligence and Security Services) accentuates, in more graphic terms, this poignant reality.
Let us revert to the facts:
1. The tragic war that ravaged Ethiopia for two years from 4 November 2020 until 2 November 2022 with devastating consequences stemmed from, and has its roots in, Ethiopia's internal and perennial ethnic cleavages. Eritrea was dragged into the imposed conflict at the behest of the Federal Government, and more importantly, due to the broad objectives of the war agenda that explicitly included and targeted Eritrea itself. This is on the public record. As one of the principal architects and fervent advocates of the war, Getachew Redda is intimately aware of all these facts; a matter that is easily validated by his numerous posts under his X handle in those tragic times.
2. At the end of the war, PP political and military leaders from the Prime Minister downwards, profusely expressed their profound gratitude to Eritrea. Again, this is on the public record.
2. Getachew Reda and Redwan Hussein weave a theatrical and fictitious story about the consternation of their South African Hosts in Pretoria as the "negotiating team from the two warring parties would get into a fist fight in the middle of the Conference Hall if not shepherded to steer clear of one another".
3. Problem with this fictitious and romanticized story is the Parties had, in fact, held secret meetings in Djibouti and Seychelles months back under the sponsorship of US and EU "Peace Facilitators". And as it was later divulged by Getachew Redda himself, the two Teams had contemplated prompt reconciliation, reportedly under the prodding of the PP Party, to join forces and wage a war of aggression against Eritrea that they both agreed was, in their contorted views, "the ultimate threat to them". These meetings took place in August 2022; when the war was still raging ferociously. A Confidential EU Report issued in September 2022 further corroborated this "imminent trend".
4. The Pretoria Agreement is essentially a peace-pact between warring sides in Ethiopia. It is, and remains, an Ethiopian affair; purely and exclusively. Eritrea's stance and support to the Pretoria Agreement stems from its principled desire and commitment to promote regional peace and stability. In this sense, Eritrea has neither the political appetite nor the interest to scuttle an agreement between Ethiopian political forces if all the parties indeed implement the provisions of the agreement in good faith.
5. In this perspective, PP's current propaganda and transparent disinformation campaigns, as epitomized by the article in question, are designed to re-package the unprovoked agenda of conflict and hostility that it has unleashed against Eritrea since December 2023 in the quest of what it calls "sovereign access to the sea", in "self-defense" terms.
6. The unfortunate fact is: it is PP's delusional agendas (illicit MOU with Somali-land; logistical and other military support to RSF under the bidding of other external forces; and provocative pronouncement, accompanied by unremitting saber-rattling, for acquiring Assab and other Eritrean coastal lands "through negotiations if possible and force if necessary" ) that are stoking unnecessary and avoidable tensions in the Horn. Profile Q & A - Vision for Berhan Ayny: Dr. Mengis Bairu on Eritrea’s Path to Medical Self-Reliance; by Sabrina Solomon
*"...Long before we ever open a textbook, we as Eritreans learn from the actions of our elders. I watched how deeply my parents cared for their neighbors and our community. That upbringing instilled in me a lifelong desire to serve my fellow citizens rather than focus narrowly on personal gain".
*"...This concept of self-reliance is deeply woven into the historical fabric of Eritrea; sustainability is nothing new for us. I was fortunate to visit most of the liberated areas back in 1986, with a particular focus on the Sahil Orotta hospital. Seeing those fully functional underground hospitals was incredible. Even the origins of the Azel Pharmaceutical Company were in Sahil, manufacturing the majority of their own medications and IV infusions under the most challenging conditions. That principle of self-reliance was forged during the liberation struggle and naturally transitioned into today’s ministries and government frameworks".
*"...Our job through the Cure Blindness Project is to ensure these doctors receive world-class training and have access to premium medical products, allowing us to advance at the exact same speed as global technology".
*"...We are on a definitive, highly coordinated path to establish the Berhan Ayny Ophthalmic Hospital as a premier regional Center of Excellence; fully equipped with state-of-the-art modern technology and fully staffed by top-tier, homegrown specialists".

This week, Eritrea was elected by the UN General Assembly to serve in ECOSOC for two years; (2027 -2029).
This is indeed a normative event.
And, in any case, Eritrea has both the track record and requisite credentials in regard to the main pillars and pronounced objectives of ECOSCO, i.e. sustainable development, partnership and cooperation.
But, bewildering as it is, this seems to have rattled feckless Potemkin Party minions and hired foreign lobbyists beyond measure. Because it pokes another big hole in their manufactured narrative of portraying Eritrea in pejorative labels.
Eritrea's principled and robust positions/track-record on nurturing global and regional cooperation and partnerships on the basis of symmetry and political independence; its rejection of debilitating dependency and/or act as a surrogate and pliable errand boy for extraneous forces; its commitment to pursue sustainable development - that is anchored on social justice - through the judicious leveraging of its comparative and competitive advantages are otherwise too well-known to merit elaboration here.

Profile Q & A: "The people of Eritrea are just amazing. They are warm, kind, and deeply patriotic"; Ms. Nandi Mandela
"The President is deeply passionate about nation-building and about African countries finding ways to collaborate so that the mission of our forefathers can be accomplished. Our forefathers did so much to create a lasting legacy, and now it is the challenge of the next generation to take that legacy forward. Primarily, our goal must be to ensure that our countries which have been blessed with abundant natural resources actually use these resources to benefit their own citizens".

Good Read: #Eritrean Beauty Engraved in Names

"With its enchanting landscapes, warm hospitality, profound peace, sweeping coastal vistas dotted with remarkable islands, rich historical tapestry, and diverse cultural heritage, Eritrea presents a mosaic of splendor. These elements are genuinely interwoven to shape Eritrea’s unique identity. Nowhere is this beauty more quietly yet powerfully recorded than in the names carried by its places".

Defamatory narrative on Eritrea, peddled for many decades now, was never a simple case of sloppy journalism or paucity of authentic/verifiable information.
In its recent manifestations, the demonization campaign stems from and is driven by the consortium, the unholy alliance so to speak, of forces bent on reversing and rolling back Eritrea's hard-won and inviolable independence.
In this perspective, https://t.co/512O7pb8z2's timely initiative to expose the toxic campaign on the basis of fact-based, well-researched, and nuanced analyses is laudable indeed. It will also substantially enrich and complement previous and foundational documents (Responses to UNHCR Eligibility Guidelines etc.) that are already in the public domain.

Eritrea @35: Progress, Resilience, and Pride
by Bana Negusse
*"...Over the past month, Eritreans at home and across the diaspora have been enthusiastically celebrating the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence. And so they should. Freedom was not handed to Eritrea on a silver platter. Rather, it was won through immense sacrifice during one of Africa’s longest and bloodiest liberation struggles".
*"...Notably, many of Eritrea’s development indicators and broader social trends compare favorably – sometimes considerably so – with those of numerous countries across Africa and the wider developing world. Moreover, these achievements, impressive as they are in their own right, become even more significant when viewed against the backdrop of the immense challenges that Eritrea has faced, including external aggression, sanctions, regional instability, economic constraints, and climate-related pressures".
*"...The strong sense of social cohesion, peace, and harmony that prevails across Eritrea is also something that distinguishes the country positively. For many years, much of Africa, the developing world, and indeed many other parts of the globe have been affected by internecine conflict, sectarian violence, and recurring instability. Sadly, in many areas, safety and security are luxuries. In this regard, Eritrea stands in notable contrast".
*"...Beyond the above, there are many other qualities and values that Eritreans can take pride in. These include a deep respect for nature and the environment, as well as a strong culture of humility, modesty, and simplicity that continues to characterize much of Eritrean society. In many communities, ostentatious displays of wealth and status are discouraged, while values such as dignity, mutual respect, hospitality, and collective responsibility remain highly regarded. Together, these qualities form an important part of Eritrea’s social fabric and national character".
*"...The resilience of the people, the spirit of self-reliance, the strong sense of social cohesion, the commitment to equality and national ownership, and the developmental gains achieved under difficult circumstances together provide a solid platform for future progress. As Eritrea marks 35 years of independence, there is ample reason not only for reflection, but also for confidence, pride, and hope in the country and its people".

Excellent Read - #Eritrea@35: “…Greater Than I Was”; by Kesete Ghebrehiwet
*"...On Saturday, 23 May 2026, the eve of Eritrea’s 35th Independence Day, I walked with my family toward the center of the festivities as the nation celebrated. The streets pulsed with movement, color, music, and emotion. People from all walks of life – children, youth, parents, elders, and nationals from abroad – had gathered to share in a historic occasion. It was not merely a celebration; it was a day of memory, pride, renewal, and reflection".
*"...The Eritrean flag waved everywhere – on banners, decorations, clothing, and painted faces. Mothers and young girls wore colorful outfits decorated with the national colors. Young boys and girls walked confidently in T-shirts bearing images of lions, freedom fighters, and maps of Eritrea, as well as slogans of dignity, resilience, and pride. Every color, design, and smile seemed to carry a message".
*"...Among these sights, one phrase on the backs of teenage boys’ and girls’ T-shirts caught my attention: 'I am Greater than I Was". At first glance, it seemed simple, but the more I looked, the more powerful it became. It was not an ordinary slogan. It was a statement of growth, confidence, and hope – speaking not only for the students but for Eritrea itself".
*"...As I continued walking with my family among the crowds, the phrase stayed with me. 'I am Greater than I Was'. It spoke of youth growing into responsibility, a nation advancing through resilience, yesterday’s sacrifices, today’s joy, and tomorrow’s promise. On that festive day, amid flags, lights, smiles, and songs, one truth became clear: Eritrea’s greatness lives in the hearts of its people – especially the young generation preparing to inherit and build the future. They are greater than they were, and through them, Eritrea will continue to grow even greater".
