As it turns out, for Christopher Nolan‘s much awaited The Odyssey, AMC recorded our highest first-day ticket sales for any studio-released movie title since 2022.
My apologies if you encountered a long ticketing line on the AMC web site and app yesterday.
Fortunately, we still have MILLIONS more available seats for you to catch what is sure to be a global phenomenon.
Ironically, the only first-day AMC ticket sales results since 2022 that topped The Odyssey were for our very own music-oriented projects from our own AMC Theatres Distribution, namely first-day ticket sales for the Renaissance concert film from Beyonce in 2023 and our two Taylor Swift efforts in 2023 and again in 2025.
Other than our early sales for the Beyonce and Taylor projects, The Odyssey first-day dollars in hand outpaced those of the many hundreds of studio-released movies of the past four years.
I don’t understand all the negative reception at all, this movie was hilarious. Had a big dumb smile on my face the entire time. Anyone saying it was disappointing or unfunny apparently need to learn how to laugh
What a turn of events.
For years I would check all my local @AMCTheatres each day to get a temperature check on how hot or cold the theaters were doing.
There were occasions, far and few between, where I’d see almost full theaters and even more distant and fewer between sold out showings.
This year though, it’s been rare not to have at least a few theaters not show almost full showings—every single day of the week—and it’s no longer rare to have sold out showings.
Same theaters, same seating capacity but this year all of those once unoccupied seats are now completely packed, popcorn overflowing, the smell of warm pretzels and pizza in the air, a line as big as guests waiting to enter Disneyland just to buy concessions.
Business is booming for AMC.
The stock price is not forward looking because those in control of it are terrified to remove their hands from their eyes and see the horror they brought on themselves believing AMC was destined for bankruptcy.
We all must eventually, at some point, face our fears. Short sellers included.
Snack up, sit back, and sink into this weekend’s latest films, including SCARY MOVIE, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, and THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS: THE LAST ACT. Find them all and more, right here, in Your Reel Rundown: https://t.co/KxzyEqRTV6
But $AMC is a must go bankrupt bet by numerous short seller hedge funds and market makers who have their own hedge funds - and family offices who have their own tv shows - what happens when no bankruptcy?
CRITICS JUST KILLED SCARY MOVIE 6 AND NOBODY CARES
The Wayans brought back the OG cast after 13 years and critics buried it in the low 20s on Rotten Tomatoes, calling the humor "stuck in the 2000s".
The audience response: buying tickets faster.
- It opened lower than prediction markets bet on - they expected low-30s, it landed in the low 20s
- Scary Movie 2 scored 13% and still became a cult classic
- It is tracking for a $45-50M opening - the biggest debut in franchise history
- That beats a $200M He-Man blockbuster opening the same weekend at a third of that
A bad Rotten Tomatoes score used to end a movie. Now it's the best marketing money can't buy.
🔥🚨DEVELOPING: Scary Movie fans are even more excited to see the new Scary Movie 6 after the film just debuted at 20% on Rotten Tomatoes.
This is one of the only films where this is a good signal, this comedy series is typically hated by Woke critics which means this film has most likely stayed true to its roots.
No… but you’re close
We make 525m in revenue “total” for every 900m. Not including merchandise as there was none in Q1.
Yes we are around or above 1.1B of revenue this quarter so far.
Once we hit 1.3B everything after that is pure profits…
So every extra merch purchase, bag of chocolate, Alist sign up… destroys any short thesis that exists.
This is why it’s important for shareholders to add some extra purchases this quarter…
@AMCKINGKONG can I get an updated chart sir?!

🇺🇸 To promote Scary Movie 6, the studio put the cast inside a giant glass box in the middle of Times Square.
Then they filled it with weed smoke.
The crew spent the day hotboxing, watching the original movie, eating snacks, and recreating classic scenes.
