Bank of International Settlement researchers shows that they tested ripple:native Ledger LAST WEEK.

BIS is also building Project Agorá for tokenized cross-border bank money.

Agorá hasn’t named XRPL yet… but come on, are you seeing what I’m seeing?

This is why I’m watching XRP so closely.

Project Agorá is exploring a multi-currency programmable platform for wholesale cross-border payments.

Not memecoins.
Not retail transfers.

BIS brought together eight central banks and 40+ regulated financial institutions to test how tokenized central-bank reserves and commercial-bank deposits could move across currencies.

Bank of England.

Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Banque de France.

Bank of Japan.

Bank of Korea.

Bank of Mexico.

Swiss National Bank.

Bank of Canada.

Then you have JPMorgan, BNY, Citi, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, UBS, Standard Chartered, MUFG, Mizuho, Sumitomo Mitsui, Santander, HSBC, Mastercard, Visa, Swift and SBI Shinsei Bank around the project.

And in July, they moved real value.

USD.

EUR.

GBP.

JPY.

KRW.

CHF.

Thirty transactions across 17 scenarios using tokenized representations of real central-bank reserves and commercial-bank deposits.

Average initiation-to-settlement time was roughly 80 seconds.

Here’s the detail that jumped off the page for me:

During dual-currency transactions, the cross-currency provider manually confirmed the corresponding amount.

In other words, Agorá has already demonstrated tokenized money and atomic settlement.

But FX liquidity still needs more automation.

Now look at what XRPL already has:

multi-currency exchange,

cross-currency payments,

onchain DEX liquidity,

Permissioned DEX markets,

Credentials,

and XRP auto-bridging.

A regulated market can theoretically have tokenized EUR on one side and tokenized JPY on the other, with software routing through XRP when XRP offers the best liquidity.

That is literally the type of problem XRP was built for.

And then September 2 happened.

BIS researchers directly implemented XRP Ledger.

They built an XRPL gateway, anchoring transactions, an identity-attestation registry and an open-source reference implementation.

Controlled testing produced roughly:

3–5 seconds to publish

and

1–2 seconds to verify.

Different BIS project, yes.

But the significance is impossible for me to ignore.

BIS is simultaneously studying the future of tokenized cross-border money and now has researchers who have actually coded against XRPL.

Japan makes this even crazier.

SBI Shinsei Bank participates in Agorá.

Separately, SBI Ripple Asia has already explored tokenized bank deposits using XRP Ledger.

RLUSD also launched in Japan.

Agorá is studying tokenized commercial-bank deposits.

SBI Ripple Asia is studying tokenized bank deposits on XRPL.

Same asset class.

Same country.

Different projects.

And the connections keep getting closer.

I’m not waiting for a headline saying “BIS chose XRP.”

The bigger possibility is much more interesting:

central banks keep their reserve systems,

banks tokenize deposits,

Agorá-like infrastructure coordinates settlement,

and XRPL becomes one of the external liquidity networks connecting those tokenized currencies.

Then ripple:native does not replace USD, EUR, JPY or KRW.

It sits between them for seconds when the routing engine needs liquidity.

Agorá is building the environment. BIS researchers now know XRPL firsthand.

Un activo puente necesita profundidad de mercado. No basta con tener una blockchain rápida.

Necesitas poder entrar y salir con grandes cantidades sin provocar un slippage brutal.

Por eso la verdadera tesis de XRP NO es:

❌ “Es ISO 20022, así que los bancos tendrán que usarlo.”

Es:

✅ “¿Llegará el sistema financiero a utilizar un activo digital líquido como puente para mover valor global?”

Si la respuesta es sí…

Y ojo: ISO 20022 es un estándar de MENSAJES.

No significa automáticamente XRP.

Ahí es donde mucha gente está mezclando conceptos.

La batalla real no es “qué token es más ISO”.

La batalla es:

Russia’s foreign minister said they need a neutral asset to settle trade without SWIFT and dollar in local currencies.

Tokenized stocks are here. Earnings, dividends, rebalances, CPI, FOMC: mapped issuer-by-issuer.
