Business-building hint: you can work your in-person customers into your order schedule. It’s a good idea if you want to offer a functional in-person experience without reservations. Esp. with fast-cooking food like wood-fired pizza. 🤷♂️
Tried to go to a wood-fired pizza place for dinner. Doesn’t take reservations. We show up and there’s plenty of seating available, both indoors and out. Person at counter welcomes us, looks at stack of phone orders for pickup, says “if you order now, it’ll be… ~70 minutes.” 👎👎
@scartabello Same. So much of my life and all of my career center on music technologies of various kinds, but for sketching and initial composing, pencil/pen and paper are SO MUCH FASTER AND BETTER.
@keithkothman @DocDre This was my experience as a new faculty member. Moved July 1, started teaching Aug. 15 or so, finally got paid September 30. We and other new faculty were seriously hurting by the time that first check finally showed up!
@dieworkwear In recommending navy here, are you pushing against "fun" socks, such as Schumer is wearing in the first photo? Just curious if you consider that a fashion no-no.
I'm stoked to learn that both pieces I submitted for this year's International Computer Music Conference were selected! Only one will be performed (those are the rules 👍) but it's exciting for both of them to pass peer review. Headed back to China this fall!
@delta_haas_ I’ve been using Shure 1440s plus SoundID Reference for working at home/on the road and I’m very happy. I use Genelecs at work. Outputs are translating well across multiple systems. 👍 TBH I think it’s the SoundID part that matters most, works w/lots of headphone models.
Refreshing the message for the people in the back: if you are submitting a video to a double-blind peer-reviewed conference, you should not include a title slide with your name(s) in the video. This seems pretty straightforward but it comes up literally. every. time.
@izzy_marizee Personally, almost always on sends unless it’s some sort of one shot thing I’m designing. Also, for just a hot second, I thought you meant verbs as opposed to, like, nouns, and I was like: whoa, NOW we’re getting detailed!! 😆
@Komaniecki_R Christian Lauba’s work “Sud” for alto saxophone and piano. Plenty of others right behind in difficulty but I think this one takes the cake.
