“Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?”
A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed. So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.
Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever. I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.
Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.
There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.
And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down.
So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.
This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.
God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump.
And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish: ‘My God… what… have… I… created?' If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.”

This is Corion Evans.
While he was driving in Mississippi, he saw a car swerve and crash into a river. Without hesitating, he ran out, jumped into the water, and rescued three girls inside.
He was 16 at the time.
The driver of the vehicle stated she was following her GPS and did not realize she was going into the water.
Corion Evans said he immediately ran over, took off his shoes and shirt and went into the water when he saw the car sinking and heard the three occupants shouting for help.
When Police Officer Gary Mercer responded to the scene, he attempted to bring one person to shore who began panicking and caused him to struggle under water.
Evans then helped rescue the officer, too.
Officials presented Evans with a certificate of commendation for his heroism in rescuing the four people. They also recognized Mercer for his "bravery in the rescue."

BREAKING: Special Counsel Jack Smith takes the gloves off and goes after shady MAGA Judge Aileen Cannon, ripping into her for her "fundamentally flawed" understanding of the case and orders that have "no basis in law or fact."
But it gets even better...
In his strongest words to date, Smith wrote in court filings that Cannon — who was appointed by Trump when he was president — doesn't appear to understand the classified documents case.
Smith and his team criticized Cannon's absurd request for them to prepare jury instructions that take into consideration Trump's false claim that he had the authority to take the classified documents. They have said that they will seek assistance from an appeals court if Cannon reifies Trump's baseless claims.
Last month, Cannon made the highly unusual request that attorneys prepare two versions of possible jury instructions, including the aforementioned one which would assume that Trump had total authority to take any documents he wanted from the White House.
"Both scenarios rest on an unstated and fundamentally flawed legal premise — namely, that the Presidential Records Act and in particular its distinction between ‘personal’ and ‘Presidential’ records, determines whether a former President is ‘authorized,’ under the Espionage Act, to possess highly classified documents and store them in an unsecure facility," wrote Smith's team.
Smith stated that Cannon is pursuing a "fundamentally flawed legal premise" because the PRA does not override Section 793 of the Espionage Act that Trump is accused of violating.
"That legal premise is wrong, and a jury instruction for Section 793 that reflects that premise would distort the trial," wrote Smith wrote, adding that The Presidential Records Act "should not play any role at trial at all."
Crucially, the prosecutors pointed out that the PRA doesn't apply in any case, because Trump took the documents AFTER he left the presidency.
The fact that Judge Cannon has not yet been replaced in this case is an insult to our judicial system. She was appointed by Trump, this is the definition of a conflict of interest.

BREAKING: Massachusetts district court judge rules that migrants who were trafficked to Martha's Vineyard by MAGA Governor Ron DeSantis CAN proceed with a case against the charter flight company involved.
And it gets even better....
The judge dismissed just three counts leveled against the company in question, Vertol Systems Co., but said that the eight remaining counts may proceed.
Judge Allison D. Burroughs wrote that the defendants were not "legitimately enforcing any immigration laws."
"Instead, as alleged, they ‘exploit[ed] [Plaintiffs] in a scheme to boost the national profile of Defendant DeSantis and manipulate them for political ends,'" the judge went on.
"Moreover, Plaintiffs’ images were captured and sent to national news media," she added. "Unlike ICE agents legitimately enforcing the country’s immigration laws, … the Court sees no legitimate purpose for rounding up highly vulnerable individuals on false pretenses and publicly injecting them into a divisive national debate."
"Treating vulnerable individuals like Plaintiffs in this way, as alleged and accepted as true for purposes of the motion to dismiss, … is nothing short of extreme, outrageous, uncivilized, intolerable, and stunning," she added.
Crucially, the judge said that the migrants' lawyers sufficiently alleged that the migrants were specifically targeted because they were from South American countries and are "Latinx, and thus made for better props in Defendants’ photo op."
While the judge was forced to dismiss DeSantis himself and other state actors as defendants because her court lacks jurisdiction over them, this is still a massive win.
This ruling means that in the future, companies will think twice about helping Republican politicians with their cruel, anti-migrant PR stunts.

BREAKING: Hardcore Trump supporter is charged with making terroristic threats against Attorney General Letitia James and Judge Arthur Engoron after texting them that he would use "deadly force" and owns a "whole wall of deadly weapons."

The alleged terrorist in question is 26-year-old Tyler Vogel from New York.

The threatening texts also reportedly contained James' and Engoron's addresses.
Vogel is facing two counts of making a terroristic threat and two counts of second-degree aggravated harassment. He is being held without bail and faces a maximum of seven years in prison.

Already, the MAGA movement is laying groundwork for the initiative, by filing countless lawsuits and legal complaints, spearheaded by Stephen Miller's America First Legal group — which he describes as a "long-awaited answer to the ACLU."
The worst part is that with a Republican-packed Supreme Court they will likely have a great deal of success upholding the legality of their white nationalist policies.

BREAKING: Donald Trump will drain $1,500 out of the average American household annually, according to a stunning new economic analysis of his policies.
This would be absolutely devastating...
According to an analysis from the Center for American Progress (CAP), the blanket 10% tariff on imported goods that Trump wants to implement would be a historic economic disaster.
Families would be forced to shell out an additional $1,500 a year, which for many is simply impossible.
Just a few of the numbers include:
-$90 more per year spent on food
-$90 on prescription
-$120 on oil and petroleum products
-$220 on automobiles
-$70 on clothes
-$80 on electronics
-$50 on furniture and appliances,
Additionally, the cost of fruit, vegetables, coffee, and seafood would skyrocket. Industrial supplies would become more expensive and the effects would spread throughout the entire economy.
"Middle-income U.S. households—those in the 40th to 60th percentile of the income distribution—consume about 85 percent as much as the average household according to the Consumer Expenditure Surveys, which suggests a roughly $1,500 tax increase for the typical household," CAP said in its report.
The study further states that Trump's tariff would be far more damaging to U.S. consumers and importers than to any of the Chinese companies he claims to be targeting.
"Tariffs are a tax levied on U.S. importers when their purchased product crosses into the U.S. market. These importers are usually domestic companies that import products for distribution to U.S. consumers," the study states.
This cannot be allowed to happen. American can not afford another Trump presidency.
