@JeffSharlet I am still in shock. I heard a coworker explain how oil prices were going to miraculously come down because Trump was going to deregulate and allow us to drill. Despite the facts of the oil industry the last four years. People believe anything they want.
@ZaleskiLuke People like the insurance for their dependent children to age 25 and bans on pre-existing condition penalties. Oh well. I guess people don’t deserve to live.
@davidzweig We didn’t pay attention to the positive lessons of Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow, 321-Contact, or the lessons of those after school specials or that episode of Different Strokes with Gordon Jump.
@JoshEakle I think the lesson is ideology, character, competence, demeanor, fundraising, criminality, and policy doesn’t matter. Inflation kills.
So many interviews with the voter. “He is a good businessman and tough. Economy was better. Vibes.”
If you are upset with the election result, you should now focus on uncapping the House to hold this executive and future executives in check.
If you are happy with the election result, you should now focus on uncapping the House to permanently rebalance power back from the bureaucracy to the legislature.
This election is a clear signal that other developed nations need to build up their militaries, because they can no longer rely on the United States to hold off the axis of autocracy (Russia, China, Hungary, Venezuela, Iran).
@WalshFreedom I grew up poor/lower middle class in working class, evangelical America. I am now 51 and I am out of touch with working class America, I guess because I am college educated and don’t believe in MAGA nonsense, I am out of touch too. I don’t feel the class resentments.
@ToyGalaxyDan, how do think 20% tariffs on all imports are going to affect toy collectors?
I know there are many more important things, but I think I may disassociate for a while.
@EdKrassen It’s all on the @GOP now. They will be praised or blamed for how they handle inmigration and economy. Trump said last night he was keep his promises. He said so many things. I guess the voters will see if they get what they thought they voted for.
Stock markets at record highs, low unemployment, wage growth exceeds inflation, the best handling of inflation of any G7 nation, energy independence, and I can go on and on and on...But no matter how this result lands, whether VP Harris ekes this out or not, it is amazing how unappreciated successful governance was in this election and how Americans are so willing to bring back into office the guy who caused all the destruction.
