This will be the 22nd straight year that the City of Philadelphia will not adopt a legal budget:
"It shall be the duty of the Council, at least thirty days before the end of the fiscal year, to adopt the annual operating budget ordinance for the next fiscal year."
Alas.
City Council picking the block of Snyder Ave with arguably the most litter, drugs, abandoned cars, and stop-and-goes and naming it in honor of the local ward leader…no notes
@CouncilmemberJG Why does Sweden import trash to burn for energy, without public complaints? Are their incinerators better than ours? Why cant we improve the efficiency of our incinerators?
@nextphlmayor How much of that 2.8B will be no-bid? Who's getting fired for not maintaining these assets better? What management software systems will be implemented to ensure standardized accountability?
At some point, we need to stop pretending that Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal and the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office is a serious office run by serious people.
It’s not.
And the consequences fall on taxpayers, the courts, and neighborhoods across the city.
The Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office is a relic.
It is structurally outdated, operationally incoherent, and functionally redundant.
And under its current leadership, it has crossed from irrelevant into embarrassing.
The Sheriff routinely inserts herself into policy debates she does not understand, issues statements untethered from reality, and demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of how housing, courts, and city government actually work.
That’s not leadership. That’s noise.
Sheriffs are supposed to execute court orders.
When the person tasked with enforcement doesn’t grasp the system she’s enforcing, the system breaks.
Let’s be clear:
Philadelphia does not need a separately elected Sheriff with a bloated office, weak oversight, and overlapping authority.
Most major cities don’t operate this way anymore… for a reason.
The functions of the Sheriff’s Office can be handled more efficiently, more professionally, and more transparently by existing agencies:
- Court services
- Law enforcement
- Judicial administration
We’re paying extra for dysfunction.
And yet, every time the Sheriff’s Office is criticized, the response is the same:
Deflection.
Grandstanding.
Victimhood.
Never accountability. Never results.
If your office consistently creates confusion instead of clarity…
If judges, lawyers, housing advocates, and residents don’t take you seriously…
If your public statements undermine confidence in the legal system…
Then the problem isn’t “haters.”
The problem is competence.
Philadelphia is facing real challenges:
Housing access.
Court backlogs.
Public safety.
Basic governance.
We do not have time for unserious leadership occupying serious offices.
The honest solution is also the simplest one:
Disband the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office.
Transfer its core functions.
End the political theater.
Save taxpayers money.
This isn’t personal.
It’s structural.
And it’s long overdue.
Philadelphia deserves a government that works… not one that cosplays governance while failing at the basics.
Grow Philly to 2 Milly.
But first, let’s stop funding dysfunction.
Put it on the ballot. Disband the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office.
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has a win-at-all costs mentality…
Unfortunately it has come at the expense of former Assistant District Attorneys, Police Officers, and victims of crime in Philadelphia.
Kenney 👋 Outlaw 👋
DA Krasner is the final piece to go. 👋
What an incredible moment for Mekhi Becton in tears after winning the Super Bowl.
“They welcomed me with open arms here. You would’ve thought I got drafted here the way they welcomed me. I’ve never been around a connection like this since high school.”
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is the only one left of the 2023 “Leaders” of Philadelphia.
Elections matter.
In 139 days, Philadelphia will have the opportunity to finally get rid of DA Krasner.
Philadelphia can’t afford 4 more years of DA Krasner. Vote.
Just in last few years Philly has lost visual + performing art spaces: everybody hits, kitchen table gallery, the painted bride (*pending), society hill playhouse, snyderman gallery, *almost* space 1026 (pushed out), north star bar, manhattan room, legendary dobbs.
@SEPTA_SOCIAL Please, please, get the sanitation teams to use lung PPE like a KN95 or better. Cleaning chemicals (+ the muck theyre cleaning) are all terrible for particulate inhalation, check the MSDS. Especially for the pressure washers, aerosolized cleaning chemicals can+will damage lungs.
The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci is not in a frame.
It's painted on the wall of a dining room for monks in Milan.
And right above it Leonardo painted the coat of arms of the man who paid him to do it...
@brettmandel How much corruption is too much?
What does financial accountability look like?
When will we stop stating "enough is enough"?
What is an acceptable conviction rate from the DA?
Should we start city council meetings on time?
Why isn't literacy improving?
Why did 180888 fail?
