@Baconbrix I’ve wanted to try out a component based approach for backgrounds for a while. On Windows, linear gradients, images, etc. are wired up identically. Gaps in support for different image types (GIF, WebP, ...) could be handled by implementing a native component.
@StewartsShops big Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream fan here. In the past two weeks, bought two half gallons, threw out the first because it had no cookie dough. Just cracked open the second, still no cookie dough. What’s up with that?
@chewingcode@moyessa It’s a good question, I think there have been attempts in the past attempts like this now defunct Qt based library - https://t.co/GkFC68LKEQ - but we’re currently prioritizing macOS and Windows at Meta. Who knows what the future holds.
@shahedC@majornelson I've been beekeeping for 3 years now and loving it! Definitely get some books, take a beginning beekeeping class, join your local beekeepers association and find a good mentor. Also, start with at least 2 hives, so you have a better chance of seeing what unhealthy bees look like.
@kevin_vangelder@ngrange@Kelset IMO the 2 big wins for vnext are reuse of C++ bridge code on IOS, Android, and Windows, setting up for Fabric-readiness, and the option to have JS as the only managed runtime in your app (though this latter bit will likely be rare with many Windows XAML apps written in C# anyway)
@autiomaa@mattpodwysocki@kenwheeler @ReactWindows Our team in MSFT CSE (along with Skype) did a great job squeezing performance out of the C# core bridge, but that code was well overdue for an overhaul, seeing as React Native for IOS and Android had undergone at least two major refactorings since @ReactWindows was published.
@autiomaa@mattpodwysocki@kenwheeler That being said a key scenario for @ReactWindows will always be embedding React views in existing XAML apps, which are often written in C# - the overhead of .NET in @ReactWindows wasn't too bad in those cases.
Super excited about the renewed energy on React Native for Windows @ReactWindows. With all the exciting things happening upstream (lean core, fabric, etc.), its the perfect time to re-think the core bridge implementation. https://t.co/kIuFRmwWJW
