ICE used Peekskill Police lot for 12 minutes, department says officers did not assist with pursuit and detention of man. Police chief says the department is reviewing why ICE entered the lot and whether anyone authorized them to use the lot.

In August 2023, Clarence Jones published a memoir chronicling his upbringing with Irish Catholic nuns, planning for the march of Washington, and conversations he had with MLK while the civil rights leader stayed in his Riverdale home. It’s titled Last of the Lions.

I am saddened to hear about the passing of Clarence Jones who was a speechwriter for Martin Luther King, Jr. I had the privilege of speaking to Mr. Jones on two occasions. Even in casual conversation, each word he used was powerful. I am reminded of some of those words today.

Clarence B. Jones, among Dr. King’s trusted legal counsels and strategic advisors, has passed.

A sign posted at the entrance of Peekskill’s Park Place Tower warns tenants not to open the front door to strangers in an effort to prevent package theft. But it’s a thief inside the building that’s delivering concern among tenants.

Tenants at the building tell the Peekskill Herald they feel there is an “indifference” to the issue and that they want management to do more to safeguard packages, as well as attend to other quality of life issues they claim management is currently neglecting.
