At just 13 years old, Alena Analeigh McQuarter made history as the youngest Black student ever accepted into a U.S. medical school.
Now 17, this brilliant young queen has already graduated high school at 12, earned a Master’s degree, interned at NASA, founded The Brown STEM Girl to inspire other girls of color, and continues blazing trails in medicine and science.
Her journey is living proof that when purpose, discipline, and brilliance collide, nothing can hold you back not even age.
The future is in incredible hands! 👏🏽

Today is my dad’s 79th birthday. We flew back from the Dominican Republic yesterday. He thought we were returning to DC but we flew to D/FW to surprise him. The city of Cedar Hill has their 2nd annual Motown Street Dance and he really wanted to attend. So we rolled up on him! Also here are my two sisters and a few nieces. I shot this with my Meta glasses. Happy birthday Reginald Martin Sr.!
This couple dedicated over 60 years to creating animated content for Black children worldwide… ❤️
Meet Willie Hudlin and Leo Sullivan—two pioneers who helped shape representation in animation when it was nearly nonexistent for Black audiences.
Together, they worked behind the scenes to bring Black stories, characters, and culture to life through animation. When opportunities were limited, they built their own path.
🎬 Their work contributed to projects that:
• Showed Black families, humor, and everyday life
• Created characters kids could see themselves in
• Opened doors for future Black animators and creators
One of the most recognizable results is Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids—a show that entertained, educated, and uplifted.
💡 Why this matters:
Representation isn’t just about visibility—it’s about identity.
When children see themselves reflected in positive, creative ways:
• Confidence grows
• Possibilities expand
• Dreams become real
This couple didn’t just create cartoons. They helped shape how generations of Black children saw themselves.
Sometimes the moment tells the story. Tonight it said: @dawnstaley came ready. Geno didn’t. And how you respond after a loss says just as much as the game itself.
@drgoffney I had the honor of first meeting you at a TASA summer conference. As a student from Dallas Baptist University, that experience is one of my most cherished. The moment my cohort approached, you graciously embraced us with the warmest greeting and shared piceless gems. Thank you!
