Really excited to be welcoming the fantastic @AppleyardFox @Tightcontrol and @our_objects for presentations and discussions on Dis/Ability in museums/galleries/heritage today @mch_newcastle@sacsncl
After the storming success of our first seminar, @D_FarrellBanks@EricaRobenalt@megtodman and I thrilled to announce that the second in our M/G/H from the Edges seminar (Queering Museums/Galleries/Heritage) will be taking place this Wednesday 2-4pm in ARMB 3.38. Don't miss it!
So grateful to @NatHistGirl and Professor Divya Tolia-Kelly for their insightful talks for us today @MCH for #MGHEdges. Both of them touched on the difficulty in embedding and funding #decolonial practice long term and thinking about the power relations therein
#MGHEdges what would a post-imperial museum look like? What would post-imperial taxonomies feel like? How can we disrupt imperial ways of seeing? Key questions to think about #decolonising museums by Prof. Divya Tolia-Kelly @ICCHSNewcastle@mch_newcastle
Super excited that our 'Museums/Galleries/Heritage (Studies) From the Edges' series starts tomorrow.
What a way to start, with Miranda Lowe (@MuseumDetox) and Divya Tolia-Kelly joining us.
Check out tomorrows session details below, and follow us using the #MGHEdges tag.
Really enjoyed the thought provoking work @Casco_Utrecht and BAK yesterday. BAK asks ‘How to be together otherwise’ with both thinking deeply about the communal.
Great visit to @Savannah_Bay in Utrecht yesterday with @CharlFarrell and @EricaRobenalt. The oldest (and apparently last surviving dedicated) feminist bookshop in the Netherlands. We all got a bit carried away.
