@CFBKnights@SlimRaider Judges base their ruling on their interpretation of the law. There are rulings made everyday that I think are unjust but the law is the law.
The judge has been retired since 2012. It was part of why he was brought in. He is not running for reelection. It's not corruption it's simply his ruling.
The original Tech alum judge in Lubbock County recused himself, which was admirable. I know the replacement judge is not a Tech alum. But he’s an elected judge in Texas who has to face the voters every 4 years—as soon as this November, depending on the county. And Tarrant County (where the replacement judge resides) has more Tech alums than virtually any other county in Texas.
@Shanks205_ Crazy how there was apparently a campaign donation to an election fund that doesn't exist. He's been retired since 2012 that's part of why he was appointed. He's not running for reelection.
@CFBKnights@SlimRaider Slight problem with this assessment being he's been retired since 2012. He's not up for reelection. That's part of why he was appointed.
@chris_kratovil@JackDaniel7841 He's a retired judge that was appointed specifically because of his lack of ties to the university and the community. He's not up for reelection because he's retired.
@TX_Duck_810@RCMB323 He's not a district court judge in Lubbock. He's a retired district court judge from Tarrant County. He was brought in specifically to be an outsider with no connection to the community.
@RCMB323 He was brought in specifically because of his lack of ties to the community. He's not even an active judge he's retired to further ensure that he would have no professional stake in the matter.
@Jon__Reed He's a retired judge appointed by alumni of rival schools specifically because he would be in the best position to be impartial. He's not going to get any career boost from this. You don't have to like the ruling but there is no evidence that it was corruption.
@BeatinTheBookie@LaneTyson He was specifically brought in because of his lack of ties to the community and the university. He's not even actively working he's retired. He was appointed by alumni from rival schools because he would be impartial.
@Jon__Reed Look I don't even like this I think that we shouldn't be doing it but the judge made his ruling and to call him a local judge is blatantly false.
@SethDavisHoops He wasn't a local judge! He was specifically brought in from outside to rule over the hearing. He's not from Lubbock he has no ties to the school or the area. That was the whole reason he was brought in.
@Eddie_Rado@braumshake He's not from Lubbock he's from Ft. Worth and was specifically appointed because of his lack of connection to Tech and the community.
@brettachapman@Eddie_Rado@lackmeftwich806 No it wasn't. He was a judge from Tarrant County specifically appointed because he had no connection to the school or the area. The judges that appointed him are UT and A&M alumni.
@Eddie_Rado@lackmeftwich806 So you are just going to make a blatantly false statement and then when confronted with the truth say I don't care? While working for a journalistic outlet? That seems like a pretty big lapse in professional ethics.
