I had what is perhaps a similar awakening about 2 years ago. It came as a result of studying near death experiences (NDEs).
We seem to be living during a time that is both dangerous and spiritually transformative. I don't pretend to know what it all means.
Righteous anger towards corrupted systems I think is still appropriate. But loving everyone is necessary.
My mission in all of this is to help heal the nation through political reform. Our political system caters to sociopaths.
Instead, we need to channel the goodness of our people into government, which means abolishing politics as a profession and massively expanding representative democracy to decent everyday citizens.
If you are interested in pivoting away from the partisan hate-fest, then maybe you will check out my work.

Yup. That's the place that feels like home to me (though I have moved away).
Have you ever realized how gerrymandering gets mostly fixed by reducing and multiply electoral districts?
Small district democratic representation by normal citizens, serving parttime and from home fixes everything.

Citizens Rising is the only organization in the whole country dedicated to abolishing politics as a profession. We are small and need to get much bigger.
I am probably as qualified as anyone to organize such a project. I was Resident Scholar at US Term Limits in the 1990s. I have been thinking about political reform my whole life.
I have published 9 essays that address what I believe โWe the Peopleโ must do, and why.
Those essays are summarized here:

Wonโt you please share this post, and help spark a great movement to take back our political system from career politicians and for the American people?
We are so accustomed to seeing professional politicians about as low as toxic waste in these public opinion surveys that we never stop to consider what this means.
Why do we tolerate the profession we trust least running everything?
Why would we give power to those we do not trust?
End politics as a profession! Why are we not all working on THIS?

@Sassafrass_84 The greatest threat is none of these things. The greatest threat is that the American people will lose total control of their government. We are pretty close to that. Partisanship is a deliberate distraction.
We are also a " constitutional representative democracy," which is another way of saying "constitutional republic."
Why are so many conservatives so intent on bashing "democracy?"
We have called ourselves a "democracy" since the age of Jackson.
Are you for abolishing citizens' initiative and referendum laws because they give the people the kind of direct democracy the Founders opposed?
Is it just because the Left says they are for democracy that conservatives now oppose it?
Don't be morons.
@TiffMoodNukes Right on, sister. It's time to heal our communities and change systems that promote hate.
Hate is the political and media business model.
@NancyMace Property taxes are bad but local control is sacred.
Should a state be allowed to render local communities powerless to generate their own revenue?
The Founders believed that each branch of government should be responsible for defending the Constitution, not just the judicial branch. When the judicial branch violates the Constitution, impeachment of judges is the constitutional solution.
But our representatives are cowards.
We could fix this if we abolished politics as a profession.
Here's how:

Exactly.
One of the biggest hoaxes in American politics and media is that the people disagree with each other very much. The extremists on each side are held up as normal, but they are not.
The only way we fix this is to eliminate politics as a profession and put normal people in charge.
