I am a dad & outdoor/sport/woodcraft enthusiast. I enjoy snow, the smell of pine trees, northern lights, a call of bull moose grunting and a taste of caramel
@bcedchat Oops. I just saw this tweet. My name is Leon Erickson. I am a second year UNBC TC. I am gearing up to start practicum number two of three. Thank you for your time. #bcedchat
@bcedchat A10:
I am stretching a moose skin and definitely thinking of best ways to get torque. Angles for maximized pull and length of time required to dry the skin, but also, how I can minimize the time of me wrecking my fingers on the pulling of the hide. #unbced, #edchat
I have a question, in a world That encourages inclusivity, why are not ALL school busses wheelchair accessible? Why do wheelchair students still have to ride separately? (Either a small bus or an accessible van?). #unbced @unbced @_valeriei
Diversity of access points for students who want to learn subject matter in a variety of media is an added component and grows the learning environment. #unbced
A3: does/should modality exist? In an ever shrinking world with broadening world views the teacher who fails to see the benefits of modality risks falling behind in the classroom. Modality creates problems and we can adapt and grow as educators. #unbced
A2: I feel that student accessibility should be priority. The teacher is being trained to have an open mindset. The student has the right to access education in a way they feel comfortable and confident in completing. #unbced
I like the idea of face-to-face experience, however online allows for accessibility for students who otherwise physically cannot be present. To sum, face-to-face is preferred when possible. #unbced
I recently harvested a bull moose for purpose of sharing with community as per my FN practices. I am photographing the process (first time photographing). My question is, should I present this very graphic project to students? #BCEdchat
I would consider adding the caption to this, instead of isolated comments, two stars and a wish comment. But in the order of star wish star. (Start with a feel good comment, add in a โconsider doing it this wayโ comment and finish with a feel good comment.
Additionally, I feel that I can benefit from teaching (FPPL) from other First Nation perspectives as I feel that every nation/culture/heritage creates awareness and makes for stronger students and members of society.
@CraigMah@bcedchat A1: Leon Erickson here, with UNBC B. Ed second year at UNBC. I attempt to use FN practice often. I specify Nakโazdli First Nations as a group that I can relate to. Small things such as playing a drum song or creation stories. I feel though, I am about a 2.4 out of 4 on ready.
