Nigeria is bleeding, and the silence of those meant to speak for the Church has become unbearable. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), once a moral force, now sounds more like a diplomatic committee than a prophetic voice. When evil thrives and the righteous stay silent, that silence becomes complicity.
For decades, Christians have been killed across the North, in Zangon-Kataf, Jos, Benue, and Southern Kaduna and yet CAN’s responses have been reduced to polished press statements instead of bold confrontation. The Church is weeping while CAN is whispering. The voice that should thunder against injustice now trembles in the corridors of power.
It must be said plainly that CAN no longer speaks for the Church. It has traded its prophetic mandate for political relevance. The blood of believers demands courage, not courtesy. The shepherd’s role is to defend the flock, not dine with the wolves.
When over 200 believers were massacred in Plateau in 2023, CAN’s silence spoke louder than its statement. That is not leadership; that is betrayal. The Church deserves watchmen, not public relations officers.
If CAN cannot stand for truth, then others must rise who will. Faith must move from consolation to confrontation, from sympathy to strategy. Heaven is counting not our words, but our works.
The age of polite religion is over. The Church must reclaim its voice, confront evil with truth, and lead with courage. Silence is no longer an option. #FaithMustFight #ChurchMustSpeak
