My college roommate Dave had zero survival instincts but massive panic response. Back in 2021 when people were freaking out about supply chain shortages, he panicked and ordered a 50-pound industrial sack of dry pinto beans from a restaurant depot website. The sack arrived. Dave had never cooked a bean in his life. He read online that you have to soak them in water overnight, so he dumped the entire 50-pound bag into our communal plastic storage bin, dragged it into the hallway, filled it with water from the shower head, and went to sleep. At around 3:45 AM, we woke up to what sounded like a wet bomb going off. Beans expand when they soak. Dave did not account for bean volume physics. The plastic bin had exploded under the sheer pressure of 50 pounds of hydrated legumes. I walked out into the hall and it was just ankle-deep in cold, slimy, swollen pinto beans stretching from our front door to the kitchen. Dave was standing there in his boxers holding a soup ladle, completely frozen, looking at me like he had just accidentally summoned an ancient deity. The apartment smelled like raw starch until we moved out in May.
I mentioned this on the live account, but the cars derating by ~50 kph at the entry of high-speed corners is killing the driver's role in those high-commitment corners. As long as I've watched F1, what has been the biggest driver differentiator has been the entry speed carried into these types of corners. Of course that is a very specific scenario we're talking about, but it's trending toward something I hoped would not be the case.
All the changes on the chassis side point to increasing the driver's role, and unfortunately we've ended up with the power units completely decimating that.
“Santa Claus is real.”
“No, he’s not.”
“Yes he is, I've seen him.”
“You've seen him?”
“Yes.”
“You've seen a sleigh with eight tiny reindeer that's crewed by the elves, and captained by a man so jolly that Heaven itself sent him back down?”
“No.”
“No.”
“But I have seen a sleigh with reindeer.”
“Oh, and no sleigh that's not crewed by the elves and captained by a man so jolly that Heaven itself sent him back down could possibly have reindeer, therefore couldn't possibly be any other sleigh than Santa’s. Is that what you're telling me?”
“No.”
“Like I said, there's no real Santa that can deliver the presents.”
@Unpaid1ntern Talking bout "did he own the corner?" with an entire race car next to him.
It's a competition. You don't own shit.
The game has never been so gone.
Idea for F1. Everyone wants to see side by side racing. Then you need a set of rules that allows/promotes that. Away with the who was ahead at the apex. Bring in as soon as ther’s overlap you need to leave racing room. Look at @supercars & @DTM for the great side by side action!
Jezza it’s a bit like a harvest, sometimes you have to be patient. From four starts this season we’ve had four different winners. Some football matches are nil-nil. Some are last minute 5-4 thrillers. That’s sport. I know you love F1 really. Change the cars, not the tracks.
✱ Have to laugh at the world’s reaction to Kanye West / Bianca Censori’s nudity stunt at the Grammys.
It’s nothing new.
Rally fans will remember when Bruno Saby’s Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 E2 was left totally exposed on the 1986 Acropolis Rally.
What’s all the fuss about?!
Adrian Newey about the biased British media, particularly Sky Sports and how they demonize drivers like Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel.
This is something I've been saying for years: Formula 1 should never have chosen Sky Sports as its international broadcaster. They are the most biased media outlet out there and often spread fake news.
If you add gravel then track limits are enforced by the gravel and you don’t need to start measuring like it’s VAR
Oscar dipped his wheel in the gravel and therefore isn’t gaining an advantage
Surely the whole point of the gravel strips were that we don’t have this 😤
