Why are nurses striking?
💵 Real pay down £4,300 since 2010
🧣 1 in 3 struggling to afford food and heating
🥫 1 in 8 forced to use foodbanks in last year
🏥 40,000 nurse shortfall means brutal hours
🤕 3 in 4 Trusts report mental health crisis
#EnoughIsEnough 👊
What everyone must understand about the nurse strikes is that it’s not just about money, it is about drawing attention to: lack of funding, lack of safe and quality care, lack of staff etc. Nurses can sometimes work shifts with 1:24, imagine trying to provide care to 24 patients
Reading this thread shocks me. The lack of understanding surrounding a nurses role in todays health care system is crazy. An ever increasing work load and a decreasing work force is a pressure the NHS cannot sustain and is NOT SAFE for patients or staff! #FairPayforNursing
• NHS Hospital Canteen: ‘Single Tuna sarnie’ costing £3.00 for nurses, paid for out of their own wage
• Houses of Parliament: ‘Rum banana tarte tatin with rum and raisin ice cream’ for the princely sum of £2.37 for MPs, paid for by you the taxpayer
Nurses’ fight is our fight.

I have been trying to get a measure of the government's PPE procurement splurge for the past couple of months.
The amount of cash shelled out to private sector firms is mind-boggling.
Here's a thread of what I've uncovered with @BylineTimes 🔽
@piersmorgan McMurdie electrical in Portadown Northern Ireland, making their maintenance electricians stay at work and visit up to 10 social housing properties per day for non emergency work with no protective measures in place
