(1) Scripture
John 21
15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter,[i] “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”[j] He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” 16 He then said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” [Jesus] said to him, “Feed my sheep.”

The primacy of Peter, indeed, is (a) insinuated in the changing of his name (John 1:42), (b) promised in the colloquy at Cesarea of Philippi (Matthew 16:16-19), (c) conferred after the resurrection on the banks of the Lake of Tiberias (John 21:15-19), and (d) exercised in the nascent Church (Acts of the Apostles 2 through 4).

“The name Peter (from the Greek "Pétros,” with which the Gospel translates in the masculine form the original Aramaic word
"Kepha” = Greek "Petra" = rock) was given directly by Christ to Simon, Peter died in the year 64, while St. John, who survived all the other apostles, died at the end of the first century under Pope Clement of Rome, Peter's third successor. St. Peter’s primacy must be distinguished from his apostleship, common to the other apostles. St. Peter received from Christ a true primacy or a full power of Magisterium and jurisdiction over the entire Church,
Expressions of St. Peter's primacy in Scripture and Tradition: “Rock" of the Church (Matthew), “Shepherd" of all the faithful (John), “Christ's Vicar" (Ambrose), “Pastor of the Church” (Augustine), “Prince of the Apostles” (Eusebius Caes.), “Peter’s Chair" (Jerome, Augustine), “Where Peter is there is the Church” (Ambrose),”](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HUYpIN8XMAEqFWO.jpg)

Pope Leo XIV tells the faithful gathered for the Angelus on Sunday that his doctors have found “a localized nodule” in his lung and will operate in a few days.
He added that the nodule was “detected at a very early stage and is well localized.”
