Born in 1971 in Bungoma, Jacob Juma rose from humble beginnings to sudden wealth by his mid-20s through powerful political connections, including Cyrus Jirongo and Chris Okemo.

He built King Business Park, owned property in Karen and Bungoma, and married Miriam Wairimu, though other women across East Africa later claimed children by him. After securing a lucrative niobium mining license in 2012 that was later revoked, he became a relentless whistleblower, publicly accusing William Ruto, Evans Kidero, and others of corruption.

Labeled a “griot of corruption” for naming names others feared, he refused to stay silent despite warnings. On May 5, 2016, he was shot dead in his bulletproof car on Ngong Road, Nairobi.

His unsolved murder left him remembered as both a man shaped by patronage and a defiant challenger of it — a warning, a mirror, and an enduring question in Kenyan politics.
