True story:
When we were about to graduate from UON, we figured that we needed passports. We therefore planned a trip to Makerere under Political Science Students Association. A list of 80 signed, had letters signed by the VC Prof. Gichaga. We applied for urgent passports as a group and were promised they will be out in a week. When they delayed, we stormed Nyayo House on Friday evening! As a compromise, Immigration Officials asked that we give five students to help with clerical work, stayed late.
Our passports were out in three days.
It's interesting how Nyayo days were oppresive and at the same time, university students operated parallel with law. I have never thought about our youth era as entitled, but this is entitlement of the highest order.
