@DrBradJohnson How about a giant send off to yearly (and $$$) standardized testing and instead give those funds directly to classrooms to fund multi-sensory or enrichment experiences.
@nellkduke @joshcowenMSU @matt_barnum The NAEYC or High Scope probably have some research to settle this. Hoping that the word "leverage" isn't used once in their findings. Wrong word choice for this conversation should it come up.
@joshcowenMSU @matt_barnum Logically...you have only so much time in the day to devote to RELATIONSHIPS with kids and families, so it definitely matters in that realm. Otherwise a teacher is forced to parse out these efforts in a triage kind of method. Small class size matters for lots and lots of reasons.
Today we are taking our Math Kits for Little Learners home. We used them throughout the year in class. Thank you Woodhaven Brownstown Education Foundation for the grant opportunity.
@JasonAblin We need a greater marriage of theory into practice. I'd suggest lab schools at every university where practicum or student teachers deliver instruction from the second they choose education. Entering the classroom after an often limited practicum won't be such a shock then......
Today we bid farewell to Maddy Lajiness, our ECE student teacher from Eastern Mich University. May she move on to be the best teacher she can! Cake all around!
