Backing Virgil Van Dijk over John Terry isn’t disrespect it’s just a valuation of greatness.
Terry was a top defender and a legend for Chelsea FC, but VVD has shown a more complete skill set for the modern game. He’s faster, more dominant in open space, calmer under pressure, and far more reliable when playing out from the back.
Terry thrived in deep defensive systems packed with world-class teammates, while VVD transformed an entire defensive structure the moment he arrived at Liverpool FC.
In my opinion peak for peak, Van Dijk didn’t just fit into a great team he elevated one. That ability to upgrade everyone around you is what separates elite defenders from all-time great ones.
VVD 🐐
🐐 Whisper it quietly but, almost by stealth, Thierry Henry has been nudged off his throne as the Premier League's greatest
👑 Who sits there now? The man wearing Liverpool's number 11 shirt. Mo Salah's numbers - and achievements - are staggering
