The cost of autistic masking for autistic young people is high. Many develop negative relationships with sleeping, eating and self-medicating.
When people write to me to say the books/tv show help them to gently peel that mask off little by little?
I know how much that means.
Needless to say, at that point I just needed to go home so that’s what I did. Dr didn’t call so blood results were all good (as expected as I didn’t think it was cardiac related anyway).
But the question remains: what is this weird intermittent tightness?
Well I had a “fun” 13 hours in A&E night before last… Benn having intermittent tightness across the top of my chest (usually when doing things that make me lightheaded like standing up) but of course I can’t fill in an e-consult for that as it just screams at me to call 999…
Turns out, breaking down into tears and having a meltdown in the middle of a corridor on some poor passing nurse gets you a nice quiet room and the doctor offers the self discharge form with and offer of calling me if bloods are a problem but otherwise not calling if all good…
@angelusmalusuk Hey, thanks for checking in, yeah I’m doing okay - mainly just staying away from social media a lot because it’s all just a bit much these days. Hope you are doing as okay as you can?
@RRowanOlive I’d love to know what the usual response time is for a review… I submitted my review forms back in February and besides a text message last month to say they are still working through them and I may need an assessment or I may not I’ve heard nothing…
Really hope she becomes my assigned GP (until she goes on maternity leave anyway) - she even commented on how bad things are with handling of adult ADHD things so she clearly gets it. Such a refreshing experience after some really awful ones in the past
My GP surgery lists all the GPs on the website with a photo and short bio… Actually quite handy for lil autistic me as means I can look up who I’m seeing whilst I wait - apparently this doctor likes kayaking but would be really odd to just bring that up 🙃
She was genuinely such a lovely GP too - really easy to talk to, encouraged the fact I know lots about my medications and let me choose how fast I want to titrate down one of them and checked I knew what I look out for in case we need to rereview…
@emilylinka I’m just glad it’s a female GP around my age as I struggle talking to men, especially older men, so I already feel a bit more at ease - it’s only a med review but even so… I’ve had some GP’s who talked about other stuff which really did help but many don’t… makes a difference!
Things are really grim for small businesses at the moment and tbh I’m feeling pretty rotten about it.
I would really appreciate it if you had a look at my gift shop and gave this tweet a like or RT.
Thank you, pals x

I hope you know, if you feel out of place or forgotten or invisible or unwanted...if society treats you like a burden or a glitch, then there is always a seat for you with me in these stories, too. A seat that fits just right.
I'll save one for you. Always and forever.

I am so grateful to you. I put my experience as an autistic out in the world and it is terrifying. So when beautiful souls feel it speak to them, I no longer feel alone.
We all need each other.
Thank you for your words. Thank you for your time.
Thank you for all of it.
So from the bottom of my heart (what an odd phrase) I want to say the biggest thank you to Elle and the amazing autistic and non-autistic cast and crew of AKOS. You give me hope that it can be better for all the ND kids and us ND adults too.
Much love and thanks 💜
So not only did @BooksandChokers like, RT and reply to my tweet (none of which I expected with how bonkers her feed must be today) but she also included a screenshot of my tweet on an instagram post. This means along with AKOS means so much to me and I’d like to explain why…

I cannot emphasise enough just how important the work that @BooksandChokers and everyone that has brought AKOS to TV is. To know that this is out there for all the neurodivergent kids out there (diagnosed and undiagnosed) is just so utterly amazing.
