Despite all the rainfall this week, @ESBGroup continue to leave less than 4% of the water in the Lower River Shannon SAC downstream of Parteen Regulating Weir. The water is being abstracted for hydroelectricity generation affecting 15km of Natura 2000 river.
GDP (Economic) #Growth is a short term measure, all too easily boosted by debt, asset sales, population growth & ecological exploitation.
Fundamentally flawed in this way, it remains the single most influential goal across the globe.
The Human factor. The mere act of breathing adds 1 kg of carbon per day so let’s say 300 kg/yr/person. Add 80 million people to the planet that’s 24,000,000 tones of carbon per year in population growth alone. Then the multiplying effect. Year 2 = 50 YR3=75 etc...

@DorzetRob@thinkdefence lol, don't think any noticed the emotional state our sockets were in till the internet started posting pictures. We rarely unplug anything for safety, we pretty fearless in that department. Maybe bathroom would be good idea. But is mostly just to put stuff away after done using.
@DorzetRob@thinkdefence I meant to say plug size. I guess the convenience of US plugs has led to a more consumer culture where we are plugging and removing things more often, almost on a constant basis.
@DorzetRob@thinkdefence Certainly seems most efficient solution. From cord size, to manufacturing simplicity, polarity alignment when matters, fast to use, right balance of staying in outlet but pulling out when tripped over or the rare occasions when need to pull out by cord for expediency.
