@Ladybee0000@PatropasN123@dianeemenyonu@sugabelly It's not prevalent now but it won't stay that way if awareness and screening is not prioritized. Two carriers of the sickle cell getting married or making babies have a very high chance of giving birth to a sickle cell child.
We don't need to be religious or emotional here, I don't think it's okay/cool to bring a child to this world to go through all what Down syndrome kids go through.
Quick honest question.
Would you prefer to keep a pregnancy with Down syndrome or you'd opt for an Abortion (if it were legal based on location) ?
Let's hear from you.
@PatropasN123@dianeemenyonu@sugabelly It should be a public health concern since there is a trace in the population (9.4% carrier rate in one hospital where a baseline study was carried out).
Nigeria doesn’t fail because it lacks leaders; it fails because it worships them. The law is mostly a suggestion, institutions in Nigeria are controlled by individuals/CABALS, and the country pays the price in banditry, kidnapping, crime, corruption, and stalled progress.
Real leadership doesn’t make a person indispensable but it makes systems unbreakable. Until Nigeria builds institutions that stand above individuals and enforce laws that apply to everyone and are not selective, every change in leadership will remain a gamble.
