Fan of both, but I can’t lie, this was absolutely incredible by @ShakurStevenson 😂. And he was 100% right with every point while not only being composed but enjoying himself and smiling. Well done young man. A+
We are very fortunate to have someone like Thierry Henry breaking down these World Cup games and players for us every day👏🏾 . Absolute legend is an understatement.
This is how it looked to me too after watching it back. I’m pretty sure Xander was just acknowledging his corner telling him they were stopping it. Live it did look different though but I don’t think Vergil should have run to social media with this.
@VergilOrtiz In his defense he looked to his corner because his corner told him straight up they were stopping it and he shook his head like he yea he understood why they were stopping it and if I’m being honest I thought they should of been stopped it, he took a lot of damage
Ducking that Itauma smoke, and honestly I don’t blame him. Ive said for over a year what’d likely happen and he knows. Great career and respect to him to relinquishing the belts. #Boxing
🚨 USYK TO VACATE ALL THE BELTS
✅ Oleksandr Usyk has now confirmed that he will be vacating all of world heavyweight titles.
👀 "I'm leaving the belts but I'm not leaving the sport because I still have my last dance."
@ZacksJerryRig@CNBC I’ve sat one table away from him at a charity gala and can confirm with my own eyes that he indeed does both. And it’s substantial.
@yungkingali Agreed. Technically, Loma’s father was the scientist and trained them both but obviously Loma was born into and raised under that style his entire life.
Against who is my point though. Usyk beat the best available options, no doubt, but they aren’t all-time great competition. Lb for lb I think Loma is better than Usyk. Just my opinion, though.
@LeszekDudek Exactly. Usyk is an incredible fighter, but he’s come at a time in the sport where the HW division is full of very large/slow men without elite boxing skills, and he’s just big enough to eat their shots when they do land & the rest of the time he’s dominating with his skill/speed
@EsqBoxing Even Usyk himself agrees. He’s been saying on video he could never dream of Lomachenko skillset but his interpretation is good enough at HW.
Usyk doesn’t consider modern heavyweights very skilled, he says they are all just huge and powerful. 200lbs run was clearly more difficult.
@snboxing True that Rigo was fighting at 122 and Loma (as a small) 130 but that’s not a massive difference and Loma didn’t just overpower the smaller guy - he was also much faster and more technically sound than the smaller man. Def respect your opinion though so can agree to disagree.
@snboxing And I don’t think either of those hall of famers is as good as Devin Haney, who most people think Loma beat. None of them are probably as good as the prime/undefeated Rigondeaux that Loma completely embarrassed either - Usyk might not have an equivalent performance on his record.
Eye test. Usyk is the more accomplished boxer but that absolutely does not mean he’s a better pro boxer than Loma. Usyk never had to fight anyone with the skill level of a Devin Haney (a fight most believe Loma won), for example. Not an apples to apples comparison.
I still don’t understand the gap in public perception vs. actual accomplishments regarding Lomachenko, especially when his fellow countryman Usyk has proven to be a much better pro boxer. It’s a reminder that intangibles are absolutely crucial at the highest level of boxing.
Swear I think the same thing when I see him cornering someone. Respectfully, I’ve never heard any profound boxing knowledge come from him and it seems like his fighters are always losing. Maybe he’s just a likable dude bc I don’t see how he’s training so many fighters.
