I was honored to accept my Human Rights Defender of the Year award today. Ahsante 🥹
It comes with $1,000 cash prize (Ksh129,000). I will donate it to a young journalist anywhere in Kenya who highlights issues in the community. Please nominate yourself or someone in the comments
What’s happening to the Animals in the Mara is so very sad. The fact that the maasai elders are being silenced and the judiciary system is convoluted for an obvious reason is even worse. Isn’t it really obvious that what the Marriot-ritz carlton did was wrong, how did they sail?
For, if in fact, my life is worth as much as the settler’s, his glance no longer shrivels me up nor freezes me, and his voice no longer turns me into stone. I am no longer on tenterhooks in his presence; in fact, I don’t give a damn for him.
Frantz Fanon.

I am heartbroken. I am outraged. And I am ashamed of what we have become as a nation.
Boniface Mwangi Kariuki was a young, hardworking Kenyan whose only "crime" was trying to survive with dignity in a country that has failed its people. He wasn’t protesting. He wasn’t armed. He posed no threat. He was simply selling masks.
Had his killing not been caught on video, the state would have lied, again. They would have framed it as justified force. But this time, the truth exposed their cruelty.
I condemn, in the strongest terms, the extrajudicial execution of Boniface Kariuki and the growing pattern of police killings, abductions, and systemic cover-ups. These are not isolated incidents, they are the rotten fruit of a broken system that continues to betray our Constitution, our laws, and our shared humanity.
My sincere condolences to Boniface’s family. His life mattered. His blood demands justice. We will not forget. We will not forgive.
