Bernie Sanders explains how the government is ran by lobbyists:
“Everybody knows you have a government dominated by big money interests.”
“Do you know how many lobbyists there are in Washington, D.C. representing the big drug companies? 1800.”
“So there are 100 members of the Senate and 435 members of the House so 535 total, and you got 1800 lobbyists. Well-paid, former leaders of the Democratic Party and leaders of the Republican Party.”
“If your question is it government that tells them what to do or they tell what the government to do more, it’s the latter tells the government what to do. Very powerful.”
It’s no secret that money runs politics. Since the decision of Citizens United, our politics has been spiraling out of control with our politicians being bought and owned by big corporations. This does not mean that money didn’t have influence before, but never even close to the extent that it does now.
The American experiment is built on politicians representing its constituents, not their corporate donors. The more we normalize the corporate take over of DC, the more we stray from what America stands for.
Until we find a way to get money out of politics, little to nothing will change.
@AmericanAir My last flight April 20th was A HORRIBLE Experienced. I write customer service & get an insulting auto reply fir a $25 flight credit. When did American Airlines become such trash??
When did @AmericanAir become such a trash heap of a dumpster fire? Been traveling since before I came out my mother's womb & had The Worst travel day with American. Cancelled Flights, Gate & Terminal changes galore. STILL waiting on luggage days later.
I drive a truck to my financial freedom. Imagine regulat, degular actor/performers if Taraji feels like this? #WorkSmartNotHard

SOCIAL MEDIA IS LYING TO YOU ABOUT BLACK FRIDAY!!👇🏾👇🏾
A lot of people are shocked by some of the headlines stating “Black Friday shoppers spent a record $9.8 billion in U.S. online sales, up 7.5% from last year”
But this is a perfect example of how the media can be misleading
But don’t worry.. I paid attention in economics class, and study media literacy… so you didn’t have to!
Everyone saw that stores were empty, deals were not dealing, and inflation has been kicking our butt all year
So let’s talk about the real numbers
So the TOTAL increase in ALL sales for Black Friday 2023 is only 2.5%
The article is saying that the portion of the sales that are online, increased by 7.5%… NOT THE TOTAL SALES
(None of these numbers are adjusted to inflation btw)
Inflation is around 3.2%…
So if TOTAL sales increased 2.5%… but inflation is 3.2%… then that means there was actually a LOSS on Black Friday
Because our dollars and purchasing power holds LESS value than they did in 2022
It’s also important to note that the amount of sales made through a buy now, pay later program has increased by 47%
They may want us to believe our economy is in better shape than what it is… but companies and individuals are feeling the shift right now

@anactualwalnut This couple talks about the "cult of home ownership" & how most of the time a primary home is NOT a good investment. But nobody wants to say that.
They rented, invest in the market & retired b4 40. Oh to have a team mate!!
