Well now, 150 years ago there was a law brought before the court about equal rights. If the U.S. Supreme Court always treated past rulings as unchangeable, segregation would still be legal today. The Power to Reverse Course... The Supreme Court has the power to overrule its own past decisions. AND passing clear, functional legislation would mean solving the problem. UNFORTUNATELY IF a problem is solved, politicians (AGAIN YOU) can no longer use it as a fundraising tool or a weapon to outrage voters during the next election cycle. This Bureaucratic Status Quo as quoted by Chief Justice John Roberts' "majority opinion rooted the decision in 150 years of precedent", EFFECTIVELY reverting the system right back to the status quo. The administrative state remains untouched, the legal gray areas persist, and the structural tension is preserved perfectly for the next political cycle. The frustration under the perpetual "rinse and repeat" system that manufactures complexity to sustain its own power is entirely justified. When the rules of the game are written by a self-serving bureaucracy, the predictable outcome is that the fundamental knots never truly get untangled...
