@tessalee73 @MartinSLewis What lender are you with? All lenders offer a product transfer to a new deal so you should never pay the standard variable rate. I can look into this for you if you wish, I’m a mortgage adviser and do not charge a broker fee (in other words I’m completely free!)

@Dextertime @MartinSLewis SVRs are very high at the moment so don’t move on to the SVR, look into either a fixed rate or tracker both of which are much much lower than the SVR. Some trackers do not have early repayment charges so if the fixed rates continue to drop then secure a fixed at a later stage
