Hyvää Puolustusvoimain lippujuhlan päivää.
Suomen turvallisuus on meidän kaikkien yhteinen asia ja sen viimeisenä lukkona ovat vahvat puolustusvoimat.
Voimme katsoa tulevaisuuteen luottavaisina.
Today, we celebrate 142 years of Estonia's beloved blue-black-white flag.
Marked with the traditional flag-raising ceremony at Pikk Hermann Tower, the day honours a symbol that ties together our past, present and future.

🇪🇪 Secretary General 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐨 𝐌𝐢𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐬 met his 🇩🇰🇫🇮🇮🇸🇱🇻🇱🇹🇳🇴🇸🇪 colleagues in Tallinn. Shared risks remain, and so do our priorities. Strong borders, counter-drone capabilities, #resilience against hybrid threats, and close #cooperation are key to keeping our region secure.
It was a pleasure to meet with @Svyrydenko_Y, Prime Minister of Ukraine 🇺🇦 , in Tallinn.
Ukraine remains on the front line of European security, defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity with remarkable resilience.
Russia’s continued drone and missile attacks show that its aggressive ambitions persist. Our responsibility is to stand firmly with Ukraine - through sustained defence assistance and by supporting its long‑term recovery. This is why Estonia has committed to hosting #URC2027.
Ukraine’s rightful place is in the European Union. We must move swiftly to open all accession clusters without delay. A strong, secure, and democratic Ukraine is in the best interest of the entire European continent.
Nordic-Baltic and U.S. senior diplomats regularly meet in the E-PINE (Enhanced Partnership in Northern Europe) format to discuss key foreign and security policy issues.
That is exactly what we did over the past two days in two vibrant Estonian cities: Tallinn and Narva.
🏒 Congratulations to Finland on becoming 2026 Ice Hockey World Champions! 🇫🇮
It has been wonderful and heartwarming to witness how the whole country celebrates this achievement. A great inspiration for young players to have champions like these as role models.
Onnea, Suomi! 🏆
Congratulations to President @alexstubb and all Finns on your 5th IIHF World Championship gold! Hockey seems to be in every Finn’s blood—but clearly a bit extra in your family, my friend. 🏒🥇🇫🇮 Enjoy the celebrations!
Ever since Putin’s 2022 blitzkrieg failed, his theory of victory has rested on a single assumption: that time was on its side, and that sooner or later the West would offer at the negotiating table what Moscow could not achieve on the battlefield.
Now, as that illusion fades, the Kremlin is escalating tensions with NATO in a last attempt to lure the West into a negotiation trap, fracture support for Ukraine, and divert us from our course.
We see this strategy for what it is. And our message remains: the only way to end the suffering is simple: end the aggression, withdraw behind Russia’s internationally recognized borders, and stay there.
Russia may be weakening on the battlefield in Ukraine, but it continues pursuing its goals through brutal drone and missile attacks. Putin’s growing nervousness over these failures increases the risk of dangerous incidents.
Last night’s drone strike on a residential building in Romania is a stark reminder that Russia’s aggression extends beyond Ukraine and directly threatens NATO allies.
Estonia is coordinating closely with Romania and allies. NATO’s deterrence and defense posture, especially air defense, must be strengthened.
We must continue supporting Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia to end this war, including through a strong 21st EU sanctions package with a full ban on maritime services.
NATO has decided to assign the @1GENLCorps to the defence of the Baltic states, with primary responsibility for Estonia and Latvia.
This is a major step in strengthening @NATO’s eastern flank and a strong signal that Europe is taking greater responsibility for its own security.
Estonia thanks Germany and the Netherlands for this important decision.
The #NB8 climate ambassadors met in Tallinn to discuss how today’s geopolitical tensions are reshaping climate diplomacy and to prepare for #COP31.
The impacts of climate change on human rights, global security, economic stability and migration cannot be sidelined. They demand continued focus.
With its commitment to international law, leadership in clean tech and innovation, and expanding renewable energy sector, the NB8 region is well placed to help guide Europe’s climate agenda.
Strengthening our capacity to adapt, innovate and cooperate will determine how well our societies withstand the challenges ahead.
As the Africa Business Forum has brought business and policy leaders to Estonia this week, we’re excited to announce new Estonia 🤝 Finland partnership to support Nigeria’s digital governence 🇪🇪🇫🇮🇳🇬
The new EU-funded initiative will be implemented by #ESTDEV together with @HAUSfi, bringing European expertise in digital governance and public sector innovation.
🇪🇺 The initiative was first announced during the visit of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy @kajakallas to Nigeria this spring.

I’m in Vilnius to send a clear message:
Europe stands in full solidarity and unity with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
And we are stepping up our support.
Because when Baltic States are being tested, Europe as a whole is being tested.
Today, the #NB8 digital and cyber ambassadors met in Tallinn to advance regional digital and cybersecurity cooperation, and collective resilience. The discussions also focused on continued support for Ukraine’s cyber capabilities.
In an era defined by rapid technological change, rising cyber threats, and increasingly malign influence, cross‑border digital and cyber cooperation is indispensable.
The NB8 region, united by shared values and respect for international law, is uniquely positioned to lead.
With strong public‑private partnerships, we can drive responsible regulation, set high standards, and build secure systems capable of withstanding the challenges of the digital age.
Russia’s increasingly aggressive rhetoric toward the Baltic states is a sign of deepening desperation. Unable to defend critical infrastructure deep inside its own territory from Ukrainian strikes, Moscow is now trying to raise tensions elsewhere in the hope that the West itself would pressure Ukraine into stopping attacks that work.
We will not fall for it.
Russia’s false allegations against Latvia as well as Estonia and Lithuania are part of a broader disinformation campaign. Finland stands firmly with all countries targeted by Russian intimidation and falsehoods. Truth and freedom must prevail.
NATO works. Every inch of Allied territory is protected.
Russia remains the long-term threat, which is why Europe is stepping up, strengthening deterrence, increasing defence spending, and backing Ukraine for the long haul.
On Hormuz, Estonia stands ready to contribute together with Allies.
These were my main messages ahead of the @NATO meeting today in Helsingborg.
Russia will negotiate seriously only once it understands that time is no longer on its side and victory is unattainable.
That moment will not arrive by itself. It must be created — through sustained pressure on Russia, continued support for Ukraine, and European resolve.
