Christ follower. Life long recovering Fundamentalist. So many books, so little time. In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, bond nor free, male nor female
The Gospel in the hands of people who are miserly and capricious with their empathy, or lack the willingness to be held accountable … inevitably becomes a hammer of destruction rather than a saving grace.
This is exactly what I’m talking about when I say Cultural Evangelicalism is a different religion than orthodox Protestantism. I do not practice the same religion as people who think this way.
Modern, strong and independent women love Jesus, not patriarchy, and aren’t in “sin” for being so. To think otherwise is completely unbiblical. But you know that, you just hate not being able to control them.
In the last few years we've seen:
- The plot to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer
- The Storming of the Capitol and pipe bombs left at the RNC and DNC
- The break-in to kidnap Nancy Pelosi and the brutal on Paul Pelosi
- Multiple assassination attempts against Trump
- The assassination of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband and the shooting of on State Senator John Hoffman and his wife
- Luigi Mangione's assassination of Brian Thompson
- The assassination of Charlie Kirk
Political violence is contagious. It is spreading. It is not confined to one side or belief system. It should terrify us all.
The foundation of a free society is the ability to participate in it without fear of violence. Political violence is always an attack against us all. You have to be so blind not to see that.
So Chuck Grassley, the key guy in whistleblower protection legislation, kicked whistleblowers in the teeth by confirming Emil Bove to a lifetime judgeship, after whistleblowers came forward exposing Bove’s criminal contempt for the judiciary.
When I visited Belize, I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender and it turned out that he used to be a prison guard. He talked about how horrible it was. Some of the prisoners are incredibly violent.
He was constantly stressed and he only lasted two years. He said his mother worried about his health and begged him to quit.
Now, the U.S. government took a person who was given asylum and put him into that kind of environment "in error" but says they can't bring him back.
America, at its heart, is about dignity for individuals. It is unconscionable to put someone in that horrific environment and then not fix it immediately.
The 1st president of the U.S. to ever have an unelected bureaucrat in the Oval Office after that guy bankrolled his campaign with $250M just congratulated himself for draining the swamp and announced, "The days of rule by unelected bureaucrats are over."
You can't make this up.
Trudeau: "They're talking about working positively with Russia, appeasing Vladimir Putin -- a lying, murderous, dictator. Make that make sense. Canadians are reasonable and we are polite. But we will not back down from a fight ...” @atrupar
@atrupar Speaker Mike Johnson just said the quiet part out loud: Republicans have handed Elon Musk the keys to the federal government’s data. The fox isn’t just in the henhouse—a foreign-born billionaire is running the surveillance.
O’Leary: We’ve never audited the government for 100 years.
Malinowski: It helps to know some things if we’re going to have this debate. Every agency of the federal government is audited by independent inspectors general. one of the first things that Trump and Musk did was fire the inspectors general
It's not just that Trump has a flawed strategic vision (lots of presidents have had flawed strategies), it's also that he's full of malice and spite towards Ukraine. So he will lie and lie and lie. This is a Russian propagandist's dream:
Pope Francis' remarkable rebuke of JD Vance and Trumpism lays bare an essential truth: Trump is overseeing a massive and systematic abandonment of obligation to the global poor, and Vance's theological obfuscation can't make that disappear.

The only field hospitals serving more than 100k refugees from the conflicts in Myanmar have closed due to Trump pulling US support.
Trump's policies are now killing people. Christians need to speak out.
