Missouri Task Force 1 Completing Targeted Welfare Checks Today and will Transition Tomorrow
Boone County, MO – October 8, 2024 – Missouri Task Force 1 (MO-TF1) is concluding its final mission assignment today in collaboration with Pennsylvania Task Force 1 (PA-TF1) as they conduct targeted welfare checks at specific addresses in McDowell County, North Carolina. Once these locations are thoroughly searched, the teams will return to their Base of Operations (BoO) to prepare for relocation in response to Hurricane Milton.
Due to ongoing needs in the field, MO-TF1 has been extended beyond its typical 14-day deployment. The team is currently coordinating the rotation of 17 members, who will be replaced by new personnel. The incoming members are scheduled to depart from Boone County Fire Protection District Headquarters at approximately 1:30 PM today, traveling to Charlotte, NC where they will join the team tonight. The returning members are expected to return home tomorrow.
As Hurricane Milton approaches, the staging location for MO-TF1 remains undetermined, pending further assessments. The team will remain in a state of readiness until a new mission assignment is received following the hurricane’s expected landfall late Wednesday night.
The members of MO-TF1 continue to perform admirably under some very challenging conditions and remain committed to their work as they transition to the response efforts for Hurricane Milton. #motf1helene
