Welcoming a special friend to the Capitol today. Thank you for being there for families at Delaney Hall and using your voice to stand up for the human rights of children everywhere.
It’s a simple question: do we want jobs that pollute our air, fuel the climate crisis, and put New Jersey families at risk?
@NJAssemblyGOP would rather protect profits of their corporate fossil fuels donors than invest in New Jersey’s future. The truth is that clean energy is one of the fastest-growing job sectors in America, and the climate superfund act will create jobs by funding infrastructure, resilience, and environmental cleanup projects while holding accountable the corporations killing our planet.
We can have good-paying jobs and a livable planet. I’m tired of Republicans telling us we can’t. We can create jobs, grow our economy, and build a cleaner, healthier future for New Jersey.
New Jersey’s primaries on Tuesday made it clear that voters want a new generation of leadership who will step up to fight for affordability, integrity, and to finally hold this corrupt president accountable. Here are those leaders. THREAD
"I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody."
Who said that @NJAssemblyGOP??
Y'all always seem to leave out the giant elephant in the room when talking about costs. Maybe that's why you have the thinnest Assembly minority since Watergate🤷♂️
More money for deportation defense lawyers.
A utility bill "freeze" at record-high rates.
That's the affordability agenda?
@GovSherrillNJ seems willing to spend whatever it takes to fight deportations, but when it comes to lowering costs for New Jersey families, the answer is always "maybe later."
After sponsoring the resolution to fully fund the Detention Deportation Defense Initiative in this year's budget, I'm thrilled @GovSherrillNJ is taking action to do just that.
This is the right step to protect New Jerseyans from a lawless administration attacking our rights.
Pictured below - insurrectionists “earning” 1.8 billion of YOUR taxpayer dollars, according to @NJAssemblyGOP.
Also, you must have missed the news that Trump trashed the “Anti-Weaponization Fund”. Turns out some ideas really are too stupid, even for him.
Sen. @AndyKimNJ: I rise to share stories from detainees at Delaney Hall. There are currently 800 detainees at Delaney Hall. It's become an example of our broken immigration system. I've heard repeatedly and seen with my own eyes the conditions at Delaney Hall. Food that is inedible. I had a man show me a container of milk that was curdled solid. I've heard about the issues of mold and issues of safety and security. What I've heard is unacceptable.
Coordinated supply operation exposed at Delaney Hall ahead of protests.
Agitators outside the Delaney Hall detention facility in New Jersey were seen establishing a highly organized logistics and support operation before protests began at the site.
Stockpiles of masks, duct tape, hard hats and medical supplies were laid out near the facility. Delaney Hall has been at the center of a standoff after detainees alleged abuse and poor conditions, claims DHS denies.
Delaney Hall has caused so much chaos and frustration. People in my state don’t want to see these abuses in our backyard and on our dime.
The detainees and their families need to be our North Star. We will fight to secure dignity for them because that’s who we are in America.
At the direction of @GovSherrillNJ, the New Jersey State police and ICE are firing tear gas and tore down the family and medic tent at Delaney Hall.
Governor Sherrill stands with ICE.
Trump is stealing 1.8 billion taxpayer dollars to pay off his insurrectionist allies in New Jersey and around the country while your gas + grocery prices skyrocket.
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
Just landed in Newark and the love from you guys hits different.
People stopping me left and right, shaking my hand, thanking me for the work — that’s what keeps me going.
There’s definitely a silent majority out there.
We will never give in to a silent few that make noise and destroy cities because the bulk of us see it our way.
Real Americans who appreciate someone actually doing something about it.
Grateful for every one of you.
Let’s get this done. 💪
I took this photo today of a detainee at Delaney Hall being carried out on a stretcher and into an ambulance. This was after reports of guards beating and teargassing detainees on hunger strike.
The level of cruelty is unimaginable. We need to shut this place down.
I want you to hear straight from me about what happened at Delaney Hall on Monday and what I saw inside the facility.
ICE out of control. GEO Group profiting off of human misery. People living in inhumane conditions.
Let me walk you through it.
It's very obvious that Rs are reverting back to the 2024 messaging playbook. "Kamala is for they/them. Trump is for you."
Voters might have bought in 2 years ago, but since then have seen life only become more chaotic/unaffordable. Don't think they're buying this time around 🤷♂️
Watters: Talarico looks prepubescent. He looks like the guy who leaves an apple on the teacher's desk. The major factor in this race is whether he’s a vegan.
Secretary Mullin said I shouldn't have been at Delaney Hall, but I disagree.
This isn't about me. This is about the detainees and their families, the lawlessness we're seeing from ICE.
I was willing to take a risk and I'd do it all over again to keep people safe.
