Proposals within the Health Reform Bill would see the abolition of Healthwatch County Durham removing an independent champion for communities.
We are urging people to protect an independent voice within health and social care.

I then was lucky enough to meet Lisa for voice coaching at @sunderlanduni and she also agreed to be interviewed for one of my university assignments. Sometimes news really shocks you, this did. My thoughts to her family, friends and colleagues today ❤️
This is such sad news. I grew up listening to Lisa on radio in the North East; such fond memories of her on Century/Real in particular. An icon of broadcasting who inspired me from a young age to get into radio and follow my own passion at @SparkSunderland
We are so sorry and saddened to share with you that after a short illness our beautiful colleague Lisa Shaw has died.
Everyone at the station is devastated and thinking about Lisa’s lovely family. She was a brilliant presenter, a wonderful friend and a loving wife and mum.
This is not a great look at all for the @metpoliceuk...
A week ago we seen @RangersFC fans outside Ibrox with no social distancing or masks and there was little enforcement action by @policescotland - I think most *sensible* people would agree which one is of more importance.
Footage shows police arresting a woman and clashes breaking out between officers and mourners at a vigil for Sarah Everard on Clapham Common.
Senior politicians and others are demanding an urgent review following the troubling scenes https://t.co/JwdjxPwiDi
There isn’t also the scientific back up to say that teachers getting vaccinated means they wouldn’t bring it home to their partners etc.
Although again I’m in favour of teachers getting the vaccine, it’s not the some sort of magic fix to bring schools back and ending lockdown.
I’m all in favour of vaccinating front line key workers after the current over 50s are vaccinated - police, fire and supermarket workers top of the list.
But vaccinating teachers isn’t going to stop kids getting it & bringing it home and therefore wider community transmission.
Labour’s @DavidLammy says “it’s bizarre that the government didn’t use last week to vaccinate teachers” so schools could reopen more confidently on March 8th. #Marr
Now I always worry these articles aren’t always very accurate but this one is pretty spot on!
Tommy, Billy Elliot & Lickety Split is exactly how I explain where I’m from to fellow North East folk! #Seaham
Couldn’t make it up... 🙈
MPs should have opinions on lockdown, fight for less restrictions if they feel that way etc but they should ALWAYS be following the laws that are in place.
So sad to hear of the news this evening about John Hays. From starting on Church Street, Seaham to saving jobs at Thomas Cook. He will be remembered a businessman who gave back to the community.
Thoughts to his wife Irene, family, friends and staff.
Very sad to hear that John Hays has died.
A really top bloke who started his travel business empire from a table in his mams shop in Seaham.
Thoughts are with Irene and his family.
Rest in peace John.
The Downing St presser expected soon - live on @BBCOne until 1910. #Strictly will be on air on time followed by live rugby. If presser still going it’ll be live on @BBCNews Channel, also avail on @BBCiPlayer
Good start to an article: "Technically Tyne and Wear hasn’t existed since the council was abolished in the 1980s."
I'll just leave this here https://t.co/I8VX3FEGBG
Obviously not meaning to downplay what is going on with this virus, by the way, but I do think people just want clarity on the local situation. The fact that by the end of today people may still not know which tier they’re in, is far from ideal. https://t.co/9J12O8Dkw8
If the PM doesn’t make this a 6pm briefing like a talent show results programme, I’ll be disappointed. I’m expecting...
“Newcastle, the data is in and I can now reveal... You’re going into... [pause]... tier 3. Commiserations Newcastle; but you do have til Wed to go to the pub!”
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is to announce a three-tier system of measures in England intended to limit the spread of #COVID19.
Here's what we know about this system and how it could impact you 👇
Apologies, I misspoke today.
In the North East, new rules mean you cannot meet people from different households in social settings indoors, including in pubs, restaurants and your home. You should also avoid socialising with other households outside. (1/2)
