But wait... There's more...
New documents reveal how TAB’s monopoly got the green light — and it’s just as rigged as their betting rules.
In short:
✅ Committee: “TAB must take every bet.”
🚫 TAB: “We’d rather refuse bets and protect profits.”
🧓 Winston: “Ignore the advice — get it done.”
The select committee pushed for fair play. TAB shot it down, calling it a threat to their commercial strategy.
The government backed them anyway.

This same thing has been happening in New Zealand for a while now with the only difference being restrictions from hell.
Any ounce of being a responsible bettor and you can kiss promos, sports betting, exotics, multi's and overseas bets goodbye.
Lets not forget they are a monopoly here so there's no other options.
TAB are just relentlessly banning any users who show any patterns of being a profitable punter. Even the most casual of bettors.
I'd love to see the analytics on the betting profiles of the users they don't ban. Criminal.
The most predatory industry in the world lol
Wow, thanks @betcha_nz
Really specific telling me the survey is about “update topic”, and will take me “update likely duration”.
Hope I can get it done before “DAY DATE MONTH at TIME”
Can’t wait to receive “UPDATE POINTS”
I know I've been quiet for a bit but hearing this blew my mind.
TAB's new strategy to combat gambling harm:
Cold calling customers to push deposit bonus matches and offering to charge your card on file right there on the call.
You've gotta question who gives the nod on this🤯
Sometimes you have to laugh so you don't get pissed.
Two of my horses went out for a spell a few weeks ago because the tracks weren't getting drier.
Since then Te Rapa has had two Soft 5 tracks and currently sits at a good 4.
Meanwhile, my one horse still in work awaits wet tracks 😂

🏇 Jigsaw made it 7 straight wins taking out the Quokka at Ascot.
I went back through the TopRate database to see how it stacks up historically, and just how rare a streak like this is, especially with a G1 win.
His winning run dates back to October 2025, with wins across Victoria, New Zealand and Western Australia.
• Led in all 7 wins
• Crossed from barriers 10–13 in 4 of his last 5
• Set a speed that gave the chasers every chance
📊 Historical context:
In the past 20 years, just 14 horses in AUS/NZ have won 7+ consecutive races with at least one G1:
Winx (33, 25 G1s)
Black Caviar (25, 14)
Autumn Glow (11, 3)
Barakey (11, 1)
Treasurethe Moment (9, 4)
Think About It (9, 2)
Incentivise (9, 3)
Atlantic Jewel (9, 3)
Pierro (8, 3)
More Joyous (8, 3)
Crocetti (7, 1)
Marabi (7, 1)
Mystic Journey (7, 1)
Jigsaw (7, 2)
Only two horses have taken a streak like this into their 7YO season:
• Winx
• Jigsaw
(Black Caviar extended hers into her 6YO season)
He’s obviously not in the same talent bracket as many of those names above, but a 7-win streak, including two G1s at this stage of his career, is historically significant.
Under the care of Cindy Alderson, his resurgence as a 7YO stands out as one of the more remarkable training performances we’ve seen in modern times 👏👏👏
@winstonpeters@bryce_edwards A bit hypocritical to rally against the duopoly but at the same time support a law that created a monopoly for Entain to control all wagering…. @EthanOnTrack
Two of my small Te Akau shares go around these next couple of days.
Sibling Rivalry today on a testing track at Te Rapa & Out Of The Blue tomorrow at Ellerslie.
Both look well placed to be competitive. Fingers crossed!
If you’re struggling to find something worth watching, can highly recommend the NZ racing series Upon The Land We Stand.
Its exactly the content racing needs more of. Behind the scenes access, real stories, getting to know the people in the industry and education.
Admittedly, I binged it as soon as I saw it on Skygo but they're now airing it on Trackside.

i always knew fellow kiwi todd Pollard @tpollardracing would be a success when he went out on his own and trained but wasnt expecting this sort of start . Hes jumped out of the blocks faster than Gout Gout .
7 starters in South East Qld 3 wins , including Valencia Roc at Doomben { first start for him today }
Former racing manager for Nz trainer Stephen Marsh ,and assistant trainer to Annabel and Rob Archibald , in Qld , he has an excellent racing pedigree and is a great bloke to boot..
Couple of new horses to Todds stable to keep and eye out for during the winter carnival , Midnight in Tokyo and former Wexford trained kiwi Smokeshow .
All the best with your new stable Todd .
@ShaunPhelan3 The horse certainly isn't a world beater and talking through my pocket here but it is good enough to beat a field like that. The horse was entitled to fade off a pace like that.
That ride was a clear learning when compared with her last three rides.
