Wolfsheim didn't even show up to Gatsby's funeral even though he was a close friend. He lied to get his way out of it which is interesting. No one was really there to mourn his death. #tggsymbol#tggfake#ch9
Nick realizes how much his life is going to change when he goes back to the midwest. It's nothing like it is in NY, it's much more rural and has more trees and such. It's interesting that Nick talks about trees since they're green in the spring and summer. #tggdreams#ch9
Nick realizes how bad Tom and Daisy truly are. Tom truly believes that telling Wilson Gatsby owned the car that killed Myrtle. Tom and Daisy literally can do anything because they have wealth. This time period was pretty insane. #tggsymbol#ch9
I think Gatsby's self-improvement book shows that he wanted to improve himself and wanted to be successful. I think it definitely helped him out. #tggsymbol#ch9
Gatsby's dad shows Nick his book. Gatsby would write down a schedule and things he wanted to do every day. One of the comments Gatsby put $5 a day into his savings, but he crossed it out and put $3 dollars instead. #tggsymbol#ch9
Nick tells the events surrounding Gatsby's funeral and it's pretty sad honestly. Basically, everyone says no and doesn't come. Tom and Daisy literally leave without a trace. Owl eyes is at the funeral though which is interesting... #tggsymbol#ch9
"At two o'clock Gatsby put on his bathing-suit and left word with the butler that if any one phoned word was to be brought to him at the pool" (161). The last person that Gatsby talks to is his butler then he is killed.
"There was a faint. barely perceptible movement of the water as the fresh flow from one end urged its way toward the drain at the other" (162). Gatsby's life is over. Daisy and Gatsby will never be together. It's all gone. #tggsymbol#ch8
"This was a forlorn hope-he was almost sure that Wilson had no friend: there was not enough of him for his wife" (159). Wilson's life isn't so great. #tggsymbol#ch8
