I just read a piece disparaging #Eritrea as "notoriously difficult to do business with" and "diplomatically isolated" by @AKorybko, whose work I once greatly respected. It's deeply dishonest of him to say that Eritrea is "notoriously difficult to do business with" without noting that Eritrea struggled under UN sanctions from 2009 to 2018, then under US sanctions from September 17, 2021 to September 18, 2026.
He knows this and knows full well how difficult trade is for a sanctioned country, but he must hope that his readers don't. From September 17, 2021 to September 18, 2026, US sanctions even excluded Eritrea from using the SWIFT system for conducting international financial transactions.
As for the diplomatic isolation, Eritrea has long maintained good diplomatic relations with Russia and China and US officials met with Ertirean officials after lifting the sanctions on September 18. Trade was reported to be the main thing they discussed.
Who's lobbying agent Tibor Peter Nagy?
He is a former Hungarian Jewish refugee who rose to prominence in American diplomacy, eventually becoming Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs during the contentious Trump's administration. His career includes a long tenure as a foreign service officer and U.S. ambassador to Ethiopia, roles in which he was detrimental in influencing over TPLF's policies in Ethiopia and American strategy in the horn of Africa.
An outspoken Republican, Nagy is known for his harsh rhetoric and persistent criticism of China, which he frames as a growing adversary on the African continent. However, his critics argue that his aggressive stance against China and his policy decisions severely undermined America's influence in Africa, alienating key nations and creating a vacuum that other powers, particularly China and Russia, have been quick to fill.
In recent years, Nagy has transitioned from public service to the private sector, where he has become a controversial lobbying figure. Allegedly operating as a paid lobbying agent, he now charges what he refers to as a "diplomatic fee" to promote narratives and initiatives that many view as divisive or misleading. Critics accuse him of leveraging his diplomatic experience to amplify propaganda and defamation in exchange of financial gain, further polarizing international and regional discourse.
While Nagy portrays himself as a champion of U.S. interests, his legacy in African affairs and his current activities remain polarizing, with many questioning the long-term consequences of his policies and actions.
Abiy Ahmed tricked the Nobel Prize committee by acting as a man of peace but right after he won the Prize, he waged war against #Tigray & #Amhara. He now is threatening to create regional conflict in the name of free port access.
He will end up fragmenting his country
#Ethiopia
Meles Zenawi made huge mistake in 1991 when he diverted TPLF's mission of giving the people of Tigray a referendum on their question of sovereignty & independence & he decided to rule the whole of Ethiopia instead.
That was a historical mistake that is harming his people today
We strongly urge Ethiopia and Eritrea to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of their neighbors, exercise maximum restraint and return to dialogue and cooperation as agreed in their 2018 peace framework.

UAE backed so called RSF government, responsible for the killing of hundreds of thousands of civilians in Sudan, has issued a statement of support for Ethiopia.
"The government expresses its absolute rejection of any attempts to change the constitutional order by force or through armed action backed by the enemies of Ethiopia's progress, stability, and steady growth; and affirms its full support for the brotherly Ethiopian people and the legitimacy represented by the Ethiopian government and all its institutions."
⛔️In a closed-door meeting, Ethiopian leaders headed by their Nobel prize winner Abyi Ahmed told #EU envoy that “they are going to #Wipe_out the Tigrayans for 100 years.” ‼️
The Somali people are one people, one language, one tribe and one culture. They should unite their land and become a great asset to our region.
A peaceful and united Somalia is great for our region.
CAIRO: A coordinated diplomatic discussion with the US over security in the Red Sea region took place in Cairo involving the US, Eritrea, Egypt & Somalia.
Landlocked countries were locked out of the door and are not welcome because they do not bring anything to the table.
