N83,284,887.32 has already been paid for the Construction of Staff Quarters (1 Block Of 18 Flats - Two Storey Building) at @nigimmigration Training School, Orlu, Imo State. Yet, the project has not even started.

During our follow up visit in March 2026, we found that the site remains untouched. Staff confirmed that only survey work had been carried out two years ago, but no construction has commenced.

The situation around the training school is deeply concerning. The available staff quarters built 4 years ago is already showing signs of abandonment with overgrown grasses, vandalised buildings, and structures gradually deteriorating.
According to staff, the training school has not been fully operational for about five years due to insecurity in the area.

Meanwhile, according to Govspend, the sum of N83,284,887.32 was paid to Kiya Construction & Properties Ltd in October, 2024 for this project.

This raises important questions:
- Why hasn't the project commenced despite the significant amount paid for it?
- What measures are in place to ensure that this public funds translate into actual infrastructure?

Public projects must be properly conceptualized and implemented with accountability. Paying contractors without visible progress only deepens public distrust and wastes scarce resources.

We call on the @nigimmigration and the relevant supervising authorities to provide clarity on this project. @officialEFCC and @icpcnigeria ro investigate the issue and ensure that work begins immediately.

Public funds must deliver public value.
